Captain Nickels Inn is a historic coastal inn overlooking Penobscot Bay, offering guests a warm, elevated, and memorable experience in a beautifully restored sea captain’s home. We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and guest-focused House Attendant & Guest Services Associate to join our team.
This position’s primary responsibility is the care and presentation of guest rooms and public spaces, while also supporting the daily guest experience through breakfast service, guest check-ins, light bar service, and thoughtful hospitality throughout the inn.
Position Summary
The House Attendant & Guest Services Associate plays an important role in both the behind-the-scenes and guest-facing operations of the inn. This person helps ensure the property is exceptionally clean, inviting, and well cared for, while also contributing to a welcoming and polished guest experience.
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys hospitality, takes pride in creating beautiful spaces, and is comfortable interacting warmly and professionally with guests.
Primary Responsibilities
Housekeeping & Inn Appearance
Clean and refresh guest rooms to inn standards, including bedrooms and bathrooms
Change linens, make beds, dust, vacuum, and sanitize all guest accommodations
Restock guest room amenities and supplies
Clean and maintain public areas, including sitting rooms, dining room, solarium, entry areas, and restrooms
Monitor cleanliness and presentation throughout the property during the day
Assist with laundry, folding, ironing, and linen organization
Notify management of maintenance needs, damages, or supply shortages
Help ensure the inn consistently reflects a high standard of cleanliness, comfort, and presentation
Breakfast & Food Service Support
Assist with breakfast setup and service
Serve guests coffee, tea, juice, and plated breakfast items as directed
Reset and clean the dining room and breakfast service areas after service
Support a welcoming and attentive breakfast experience for guests
Follow food safety and sanitation practices
Guest Services
Greet guests warmly and professionally
Assist with guest arrivals and check-ins as needed
Answer basic guest questions about the inn, room features, breakfast, and local recommendations
Provide thoughtful hospitality and personalized interaction throughout the guest stay
Help create a calm, polished, and welcoming atmosphere
General Inn Support
Assist with special projects, turnovers, seasonal tasks, and event preparation as needed
Work collaboratively with inn ownership and team members to support daily operations
Help uphold the service standards and guest experience of Captain Nickels Inn
Qualifications
Housekeeping, hospitality, hotel, inn, restaurant, or guest service experience preferred
Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
Warm, professional, and guest-oriented demeanor
Ability to multitask and move between housekeeping and guest service responsibilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
Comfortable being on your feet for extended periods and performing physical tasks including lifting, bending, climbing stairs, and carrying linens or supplies
Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as needed
Cocktail, bar service, or food service experience is a plus
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry up to [25–40] pounds
Ability to climb stairs frequently in a historic inn setting
Ability to perform repetitive cleaning and housekeeping tasks
