The House Manager is responsible for the daily operations, supervision, and overall management of a JC BestCare residential or host home setting. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities while maintaining compliance with all state, federal, and agency standards.
The House Manager serves as a leader, mentor, and liaison between clients, caregivers, families, and the agency, ensuring a safe, structured, and supportive home environment.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Client Care Oversight
Ensure implementation of individualized service plans (ISPs), behavior support plans, and care plans
Monitor client health, safety, and well-being at all times
Provide direct care support as needed, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs)
Promote independence, community integration, and person-centered outcomes for all clients
Ensure proper documentation of client progress, incidents, and daily activities
Staff Supervision & Development
Recruit, train, and supervise direct support staff and caregivers
Develop staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage at all times
Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and evaluations
Ensure staff are trained and compliant with required certifications and agency policies
Address performance issues and implement corrective actions when necessary
Operational Management
Oversee day-to-day household operations including cleanliness, maintenance, and safety
Ensure compliance with licensing, Medicaid, and regulatory standards
Manage household budgets, groceries, and supplies responsibly
Coordinate medical appointments, transportation, and community activities
Conduct routine audits of documentation, medication administration records, and files
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure adherence to JC BestCare policies and procedures
Maintain readiness for state inspections, audits, and reviews
Report incidents in a timely and professional manner
Ensure all client and staff records are accurate, complete, and up to date
Communication & Coordination
Serve as the primary point of contact between the agency, families, case managers, and stakeholders
Participate in care team meetings and provide updates on client progress
Address concerns from families or stakeholders in a professional and timely manner
Support intake, admissions, and transitions for new clients
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field preferred)
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in residential care, IDD services, or a related field
Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and maintain required clearances

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Ability to move, or assist clients as needed
Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner
Work is performed in a residential home setting with occasional travel
