Introduction
HouseKeys is a mission-oriented tech startup creating a platform to connect income-eligible buyers and renters with affordable homes built by private homebuilders as part of local government zoning policies. Our “hub” user is the local jurisdiction whose housing program we host on the platform and our demand-side users are the applicants who apply for available units. Over the next 18 months, we’ll be overhauling the platform and rebuilding it from the ground up on a more modern stack. The current version has been in production for 8 years on a very primitive stack. We’re looking for someone who can take the lead on building out the front-end and interfacing with the server-side teammates with limited direction. Our multi-tenant user network includes consumers, homebuilders, local government agency staff members, and housing professionals (e.g., real estate agents, loan officers, property managers).
The Position
As our Lead Front-End Application Engineer, you will sit at the intersection of engineering and design – and oversee development of an easy-to-use product for both our demand and supply-side userbase. This includes gathering user requirements, coding up designs, refining submitted designs, and integrating with APIs for internal functions and the external website. You’d also be expected to produce interactive prototypes to assist in user research and feature development. We have a designer on staff and commission designs from a reliable group of contractors.
Responsibilities
1. Collect and evaluate user requirements
2. Utilize storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps to communicate design ideas
3. Interface Elements and Navigation Components
4. Mockups and Prototypes
5. Presentations to our internal teams and user cohort members
6. Adjust and iterate initial designs as needed
7. Maintain adherence to style standards on fonts, colors, and images
Professional Experience & Knowledge
1. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
2. ReactJS Framework
3. Data Visualization
4. 6+ years of front-end / UI development and prototyping
5. Proven experience in this role on previous teams
6. An available portfolio of design projects and customer outcomes
7. Wireframe Tools
8. Adobe Creative Suite
9. Great Communication and Presentation Skills
10. Computer Science or Design Degree or Equivalent
Bonus Skillsets and Certifications
1. Swift and UIKit development for iOS and iPadOS
2. Full Stack Engineering Capabilities
3. Mobile App Development
