    THE ROLE

House Parents share everyday life with young men through discipleship, mentoring, school support, recreation, transportation, vocational training, meals, projects, life skills, prayer, devotions, church, and biblical teaching.

They provide steady guidance, loving accountability, healthy boundaries, and consistent relationships while helping young men grow in faith, character, responsibility, and practical life skills.

    WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The right House Parent is mature, dependable, relational, teachable, and steady under pressure.

Candidates should have a mature, active, growing relationship with Jesus Christ; combine compassion with firm guidance; demonstrate sound judgment, reliability, communication, and conflict-management skills; work well within a team; and be comfortable with active residential and waterfront life.

Helpful backgrounds include youth mentoring, Christian ministry, residential care, foster care, education, coaching, social services, military/public safety, skilled trades, facilities, outdoor work, and maritime work.

Practical skills such as carpentry, mechanics, boat repair, boating, sailing, gardening, culinary arts, welding, construction, maintenance, and other trades are welcome.

    WATERFRONT LIVING

Safe Harbor operates within a private marina and maritime campus in Jacksonville.

Living arrangements may include a Safe Harbor live-aboard vessel, a qualified personal vessel, or a personal RV on campus when available. House Parents DO NOT live aboard vessels with program residents.

Candidates should be comfortable with docks, boats, stairs, outdoor areas, and waterfront life. Maritime, RV, or live-aboard experience is helpful but not required.
