    Job Description

    Homeless Outreach Specialist A full time position exists to work directly with homeless individuals across the Cape. The primary role of the Outreach Specialist is to provide referrals and coordination services to increase support and follow-through with individuals who are currently experiencing housing instability. This is a collaborative role that will work directly with individuals and support agencies to stabilize crisis situations and secure housing. This position meets directly with homeless clients, completes a needs assessment, and assists the individual with completing referrals to needed services. A successful candidate will have experience working in the human services field working directly with clients and have a dedication to assisting individuals who are experiencing homelessness. The Outreach Specialist will work under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Individual Services. Sign-on bonus of up to $1,000 Company Description Housing Assistance Corporation was founded in 1974 as a pilot project to test the use of rental vouchers to help secure housing for year-round workers on Cape Cod. Since that time, our programs have expanded to assist more than 175,000 low- and middle income households on Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. We operate three shelters across Cape Cod that serve more than 375 people, including 177 families each year. We also provide emergency crisis assistance to more than 400 families to help them stay in their homes and avoid entering the shelter system. We promote Family Self-Sufficiency through Section 8 vouchers and multi-year mentoring programs; we promote energy efficiency through more than 700 energy audits per year and no or low-cost energy efficient devices; and we have developed and/or manage more than 550 affordable housing units. Nearly 3,000 individuals last year received counseling, education and resources they needed to get housed, stay housed, and further their personal financial goals. In addition, we trained more than 140 municipal officials regarding affordable housing development and our goal is to train more than 200 community advocates to work with towns to promote new affordable housing.
