    • Tuesday: 10:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
    • Wednesday-Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

    **Job Summary : **The Housing Navigator supports individuals within the Mercy House shelter system by conducting ongoing needs assessments, developing housing plans, making referrals, and advocating for clients to help them achieve long-term housing stability. This role includes creating individualized service plans, collaborating with external agencies, and applying trauma-informed care and harm reduction strategies. Responsibilities also involve managing a caseload, maintaining accurate records, and providing crisis intervention and housing support services.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    Client Services

    • Manage a caseload of 22–30 clients, conducting assessments and developing service plans
    • Provide client-centered, trauma-informed case management to support housing stability
    • Assist with obtaining vital documents, accessing benefits, and connecting to community resources
    • Guide clients through all service stages, including assessments to housing placement, referrals, and crisis support
    • Conduct risk assessments and facilitate warm handoffs to housing providers
    • Collaborate with landlords, outreach teams, and social workers to secure permanent housing
    • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in HMIS and participate in CES meetings and trainings

    Team Collaboration

    • Work with staff, volunteers, and partners to support shelter operations and programming
    • Communicate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
    • Attend meetings and contribute to agency-wide planning and coordination

    Administrative Duties

    • Maintain thorough case documentation and support data/reporting requirements
    • Use approved software systems and manage time independently
    • Stay informed on treatment models and best practices through ongoing learning

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Strong grasp of confidentiality, ethical standards, and professional boundaries
    • Skilled in documentation, housing navigation, and client engagement across diverse populations

    Requirements_ :
    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field is preferred
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and/or mental health challenges is preferred
    • Applicants with less than a BA/BS degree but with at least 2 years of direct life experience working with long-term homeless, low-income, and diverse populations and have a working knowledge of mental health and recovery are welcome to apply

    • High level of tolerance and understanding for individuals who present for services with urgent multiple case management and health needs
    • Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
    • Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer
    • Must have reliable transportation
