    Job Title: Housing Specialist III- TBRA Case Manager 

    Job Location: Virginia Beach, VA

    Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am-5pm

    Payrate: $24.86/hour

    Job Duties: The Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) program Case Manager in the Homeless Services Division will work with the Homeless Programs Unit, providing direct services and intensive case management services for program participants.

    Responsibilities:

    •Perform intake assessments for individuals and families and establish housing plans.

    •Process applications for program eligibility.

    •Provide comprehensive case management services for assigned clients including but not limited to connections to mainstream resources, housing, employment/education, health, mental health treatment, and substance abuse services, and social and community integration.

    •Promote client self-sufficiency.

    •Ensure thorough documentation is complete, accurate, verified, and updated in paper and/or electronic systems as required.

    •Ensure housing stability through crisis intervention and regular home visits.

    •Communicate participant progress to the Program Manager through daily log.

    •Intervene in client crises.

    •May be required to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

    •May be required to drive a city vehicle.

    Preferences

    •Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in social work or human services or other related field preferred or a combination of experience and education.

    •Experience working with mentally ill, formerly homeless people.

    •Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, etc).

    •Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.

    •Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    •Strong team building and coaching skills.

    •Strong problem-solving skills and resourcefulness.

    •Familiarity with web-based database systems is preferred

    Minimum/Special/Additional Requirements:

    Requires any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or experience equivalent to eight (8) years in fields utilizing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
