     Mitsubishi Electric Automation is looking for a Cost Accounting and Financial Analyst professional to be our next Sr. Financial Analyst/Cost Accountant! A strong fit would be someone who likes to think out of the box, is confident and comfortable to make recommendations; not just take orders and execute, and someone who has a cost accounting background but wants to learn FP&A side of the business and has the capabilities to understand cost side and provide direction

    • Provide financial planning and analysis (FP&A) support to the Service, Manufacturing and Supply Chain groups.
    • Proficient in gathering, interpreting and communicating organizational data to better understand the business and its key drivers to assist business leaders in making decisions to meet performance objectives.
    • Work closely with management in preparing financial forecasts, semi-annual budgets / operating plans, as well as, concise meaningful variance and margin analysis.
    • Provide direction on cost accounting related activities to ensure that transactions are recorded accurately and transparently. Also, to provide thoughtful analysis that clearly demonstrates cost variance drivers and to assist the organization in understanding these drivers.
    • Lead the calculation of annual labor and overhead rates, ensure that transfer prices for services performed are reasonable, and drive effective decisions in the organization.
    • Provide financial consulting and strategic support to management in preparing board presentations, financial presentations, capital expenditure analysis, industry/peer group comparisons, and other projects requested by management.
    • Provide a leadership role within the Finance Department leveraging technology to drive efficiencies in gathering, interpreting and communicating organization data used to understand and report results and forecasts to business units.
    • Assume limited roles within the month end accounting close, be responsible for reviewing judgmental accounts, and perform audits as necessary.

    POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                      

    • Produce meaningful analytical reports to assist management in decision making in areas like sales performance, gross margin performance, and cost and expense trends
    • Perform various budget related tasks and assist in the budget review process preparing, collecting, and consolidating departmental financial data
    • Work closely with the company’s Manufacturing, Service and Supply Chain areas in compiling and analyzing financial results against prior period results, budgets and forecasts.
    • Provide direction on cost accounting related activities and drive meaningful cost analysis.
    • Lead the calculation of annual labor and overhead rates, ensure that transfer prices for services performed are reasonable, and drive effective decisions in the organization.
    • Assist in reconciling assigned accounts & reporting systems, perform limited month end close duties, and assist with the external & internal audits
    • Provide timely performance variance analysis reports utilizing SAP and other reporting tools
    • Perform monthly close procedures and generation of financial reports and analysis
    • Perform other job functions as assigned.

     

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    • Possible, limited travel within the US and Mexico

    ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Cost Accounting is required
    • A degree in Accounting is required
    • Masters of Business Administration (MBA) is a plus
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience as financial analyst in a large organization providing analytical support to management
    • Financially fluent with a keen focus on drivers of the business – not just the numbers
    • Proficient in major ERP system financials (Oracle, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, SAP) acting as super user in understanding the ERP systems and data sources
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal departments
    • Solid written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
    • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (super user within Excel)

    BENEFICIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Knowledge of the Japanese Culture as it pertains to business conduct, and communication.
    • Additional certification (CPA or CMA) is a plus
    • Experience using SAP FI/CO is a big plus.   
    • Experience with CRM software is beneficial.
    • Experience with BW and BI.
