    If you are interested in working in a high-energy, recovery-oriented environment that really makes a difference in the lives of individuals with mental illness, then this may be the job for you! The Howard Levin Clubhouse, a program of Jewish Residential Services, has an opening for a bachelor's level Psychiatric Rehabilitation Counselor. The Howard Levin Clubhouse is a lively, dynamic and comprehensive program of support and skill-building for people living with mental illness. Clubhouse staff work side-by-side with members (clients) to manage all operations of the Clubhouse, providing opportunities for members to contribute in significant and meaningful ways. HLC, located in the heart of Squirrel Hill is a nationally accredited, state licensed program based on the program standards established by the International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD). The purpose of the program is to assist people living with mental illness to live socially rewarding, vocationally productive lives as valued members of the community. Primary responsibilities of Clubhouse staff include:

    • Establishing collegial and productive relationships with clubhouse members (consumers) and other staff to create and maintain a strong and supportive community that promotes recovery
    • Engaging members to identify and further individual psychiatric rehabilitation goals through the program's vocational and social programming experiences.
    • Teaching vocational and prevocational skills to clubhouse members.
    • Providing leadership and serving as a role model for establishing and maintaining wellness and recovery.
    • Participating in developing and managing community-based Transitional Employment Positions.
    • Planning and facilitating social activities, including periodic evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • Performing crisis intervention counseling as needed. Candidates for this position must be outgoing, team-players, empathetic, able to engage and work along-side clubhouse members in all areas of this non-traditional, consumer-driven environment. Excellent communication, conflict resolution, writing, computer skills, and the ability to multitask are essential.
