(HR Green) is a professional services firm providing workable and sustainable solutions in the Transportation, Water, Governmental Services, and Land Development markets. With over 100 years of history and a strong focus on future growth, HR Green is looking for motivated and energetic civil engineer interns who want to gain valuable work experience. We currently have openings in our Governmental Services group in the Inland Empire and LA County, CA areas. Our Governmental Services staff works with local governments from across the United States as an extension of their staff, providing municipal engineering services, on-call consulting and public works staff augmentation. Our interns work with our engineering team on a variety of projects helping to develop our local communities. Our engineering team provides exceptional training and guidance, helping interns to apply the concepts learned through their coursework to real-life projects. Interns will be responsible for, but not limited to: * Designs portions of a project using relevant office software, modeling and CADD technology. * Completes calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems. * Prepares specification materials through the use of research and manufacturing catalogs to specify materials, installation, inspection and payment of items specific to a project. * Works with CADD Technicians in order to complete design details and plan sets. * Performs research and writes objective summary reports which are used in the completion of project work or inspection. * Assists in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates. * Completes field observation, inspection and data collection duties as directed by senior engineering staff. * Communicates with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff. Education and/or Experience * The Intern must be attending an accredited four-year or graduate engineering university pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. Preference for sophomore and junior year students. Successful interns may be eligible for additional internship opportunities. * Must have basic knowledge of office software (Word, Excel, etc.) and be capable of working with CADD software, such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other engineering automation tools as required. Physical Demands Work is primarily performed in the office with occasional trips to a project site or other locations as needed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for prolonged periods of time, stand, walk, talk, hear, and reach with hands or arms. Hand eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and other office equipment. The employee is also required to kneel, crouch, and bend. Must be capable of carrying up to 30 pounds of equipment over all types of terrain and in all types of weather conditions.
