    Vineyard Manager and Asst. Winemaker Hudson-Chatham Winery General Description of Duties: Under the direction of the General Manager, supervises and coordinates all of the various farming activities for assigned vineyards. Assignments involve the execution of general vineyard management work requiring broad skills and knowledge in the areas of pruning, irrigation management, weed control, chemical applications, disease and pest control, cultivation and canopy management and harvest. Assists in all vineyard development activities including land preparation, reservoir, trellis and irrigation system installation, planting and grafting, equipment selection, etc. Also, when necessary directs work assignments, delegating work to field personnel in an effective manner. Also works with General Manager to supervise winery operations in relation to winemaking and contribute to the continuous improvement of the winemaking process and procedures. Assist in grape harvesting, receiving, crushing, and pressing and wine production operations during harvest on days, swing shift, or graveyard. Participate in wine tasting at all stages throughout the winemaking process. Assist in evaluation and recommendation of treatments. Write process orders for all production related tasks from harvest to bottling. Participate in bottling and warehouse management. Additional responsibilities - from time to time conduct educational tastings and tours of the facility, as well as work wine festivals (at facility and on the road). Other duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education/Experience: Degree in Enology, Chemistry or related field Experience with both the practical and technical aspects of the winemaking process Knowledge of: Winemaking regulatory requirements Harvest, fermentation, cellar work, and winemaking analysis Ability to: Must possess excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills Conduct and manage experiments, including reporting the results, in relation to wine quality Salary: Negotiable $24K Min
