    The Opportunity

    Manages a staff of application analysts responsible for Client's Medical Center’s Electronic Health Record Systems to include:

    • Hospital Billing

    • Professional Billing

    • Claims

    • HIM

    Provides managerial and technical design review/recommendations for APeX Business Applications modules (outlined above) in consultation with clinical/business partners for the design and enhancement of new and existing APeX Modules. Develops project plans for installing, testing and implementing new or updated functionality and manages resources to provide 7 x 24 on-call technical production support.

    Leads/Coordinates various product/functional/integration evaluations for various Health System initiatives and Client's programs. Includes leadership of multiple medium/large scope concurrent projects at any time, in addition to personnel management duties. Leads/Coordinates various operational improvement initiatives in regards to the use of APeX to support workflow efficiency, regulatory, patient safety/quality and research initiatives.

    Participates in or lead various governance committees or workgroups focused on the use of the EMR and prioritization of enhancements/fixes for a clinical, billing, and/or research needs.

    Participates in or lead strategic planning for future technology/development to support new clinical, financial, and/or research programs. Leads discussions with vendors and/or other Client's/Academic organizations in “best practice”, product direction, and new technologies.

    Responsibilities

    Duties & Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

    • Manages Billing and HIM applications program development, software testing, estimates of costs and resource needs, budgets, distributed clinical information systems, and user support systems and executing them through subordinates.

    • Reviews current status of Billing and HIM system applications and alignment with clinical workflows and processes. Prepares recommendations for system improvements. Determine needs for upgrades, technical and procedural solutions to improve integration and effectiveness of various functions, clinical applications, and new releases. Triages work and issues to address business needs.

    • Develops, coordinates, and manages support systems for troubleshooting and resolving problems.

    • Applies proven human resources management skills in staff selection, development, and evaluation. Creates a strong culture of teamwork to ensure the quality of daily operations, effective interdepartmental collaborations, and the timely achievement of objectives.

    • Collaborates with key staff and managers across departments on issues of performance and functionality, as well as new applications development and implementations.

    • Advises and influences senior management on quality improvement, state-of-the-art advances, vendor coordination, and the latest industry developments in clinical applications.

    • Develops Standard Operating Procedures across streams of work to facilitate improvements. Advocates for change and innovation.

    • Identifies trends and areas of non-compliance.

    • Organizes resources to ensure strategic goals are achieved on time and within budget.

    Required Qualifications

    • Five years applicable clinical application experience in a healthcare setting, or related combination of education, training, and experience

    • Three years managerial experience in an IT or Hospital Revenue Cycle Operations setting

    • Administrator Certification on one or more Epic Billing and HIM applications within six months of hire

    • Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and / or equivalent combination of experience / training

    • Demonstrated leadership skills managing IT professionals and collaborating with clinicians; proven managerial, skills in planning and delegating work, deploying staff, resource management, budgeting, and financial management

    • Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and delegate clinical applications work efficiently, with strong human resources management skills and knowledge

    • Proven ability to work effectively with senior management on operational and performance issues in developing goals, objectives, policies, strategies, quality improvement programs, systems for monitoring and ensuring user competence on clinical applications

    • Strong critical-thinking, project-management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and interpret complex data and systems, to quickly identify problems and implement solutions

    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train users and to successfully manage extensive cross-functional interactions between the clinical applications team, users, related personnel, and outside vendors; ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise, and specific manner, and to cultivate a strong commitment to quality and achievement of goals

    • Strong knowledge of healthcare information technology, clinical workflow and processes and medical terminology; comprehensive understanding of clinical applications and integration with clinical processes and workflows

    • The flexibility to orient and work at all Client's Health locations
