Job Description
The Human Resource Generalist will support both the daily functions and tactical responsibilities of the Human Resources (HR) department, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering a positive workplace culture. The role assists in, recruitment and onboarding, benefits, compensation, leave administration, acts as the primary backup to payroll, employee relations, employee engagement, performance management, compliance, and other initiatives to promote organizational effectiveness. In addition, the role is to strategically build strong relationships with company's managers in order to help them with their human resource needs.
Primary Job Duties:
- Responsible for assisting in the creation and ongoing maintenance of HR Standards of Practice as well as assisting with compliance initiatives as they relate to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Manages the basics administration of the health; welfare; and 401k plans, including enrollments, audits, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
- Coordinate open enrollments, changes, answers questions, and coordinates training for employee benefits programs.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.
- Manages the onboarding process which includes sending offer letters, conducting background checks, employee eligibility verifications, tracking status of candidates, creating as well as updating personnel folders, and managing the I-9 process.
- Responsible for the ongoing updates and maintenance of all relevant databases, including the 401k as well as relevant HRIS and company employee database systems.
- Promotes HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace as well as assisting employees to resolve internal conflicts.
- Process complaints regarding sexual harassment, discrimination, or other instances of workplace harassment and assist in any necessary investigations and disciplinary actions.
- Assists managers with addressing employee performance issues, including sitting in on and/or the processing of terminations.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Produces the Company Quarterly Wellness Newsletter as well as managing the employee wellness activities.
- Prepares and develops special events such as Year End Celebration, employee engagement activities and other company gatherings.
- Collaborates with Managers to update and develop accurate job descriptions.
- Responsible for the creation, monitoring, gathering, and analysis of HR metrics as well as the producing reports on general HR activity.
- Responsible for drafting and sending out employee communications.
- Suggest new procedures, practices, and technology to continually improve the efficiency of the HR department and organization as a whole, and to improve the employee experience.
- Communicates professionally and provides timely support for all business units within the organization.
- Serves as the primary back-up for payroll processing. Assists with payroll process as needed to ensure efficient and accurate processing.
- Assists with all regulatory audits.
