Position Overview
We're seeking a detail-oriented HR Administrator with legal industry experience to join our Oakland-based law firm. What You'll Do
- Employee Relations: Serve as the first point of contact for HR inquiries, providing exceptional support to attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain personnel files, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage sensitive legal industry requirements with discretion
- Talent Acquisition Support: Assist with recruiting efforts for legal positions, from coordinating interviews to conducting reference checks
- Benefits Administration: Guide employees through benefit selections, process changes, and serve as liaison with benefit providers
- Onboarding Excellence: Create welcoming experiences for new hires while ensuring all legal industry protocols are followed
- HRIS Management: Maintain accurate employee data and generate reports to support strategic decision-making
- Special Projects: Contribute to firm-wide initiatives including policy development, employee engagement, and process improvements
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of HR experience with law firm background required
- Residence in the East Bay area with ability to commute to Oakland office
- Strong understanding of legal industry culture, confidentiality requirements, and professional standards
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented approach with ability to handle confidential information
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field
- Experience with legal recruiting or attorney placement
- Knowledge of California employment law
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification (or willingness to pursue)
