Position Summary
The Human Resources Assistant supports the daily operations of the HR department within a fast-paced asphalt/construction environment. This role is responsible for administrative support, employee assistance, onboarding coordination, and maintaining accurate electronic records. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with both field employees and office staff.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative & Office Support
- Provide general administrative support to the HR department
- Maintain employee records and ensure accuracy and confidentiality
- Assist with filing, data entry, and document management
- Support day-to-day office operations and communication
Electronic Filing & Documentation
- Scan, upload, and organize documents into the electronic filing system
- Ensure all employee files are complete and up to date
- Maintain compliance with company policies and recordkeeping requirements
Employee Support
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, benefits, and procedures
- Provide timely and professional assistance to both field and office employees
- Direct employees to appropriate resources when necessary
Onboarding & Training Support
- Assist with new hire onboarding processes
- Help new employees complete required paperwork and documentation
- Guide employees through computerized training programs and onboarding systems
- Track completion of required training and certifications
Recruitment Support
- Assist with scheduling interviews and coordinating candidate communications
- Help prepare onboarding materials and new hire packets
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 1–2 years of administrative or HR experience preferred
- Experience in construction, asphalt, or industrial environment is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with HRIS or electronic filing systems preferred

- Ability to operate standard office equipment
