Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & HR Operations
- Collaborate with senior leaders to align HR strategies with business goals
- Lead development and updates of policies, procedures, and the employee handbook
- Drive retention and engagement programs, workforce planning, and cultural initiatives
- Oversee HRIS selection, implementation, and optimization
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Advise managers on employee relations, performance issues, and conflict resolution
- Conduct investigations, support disciplinary actions, and ensure fair outcomes
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws (FMLA, HIPAA, ADA, etc.)
- Serve as HIPAA Privacy Officer and manage risk mitigation processes
Compensation & Benefits
- Maintain and refine compensation structures aligned with market benchmarks
- Lead Open Enrollment and vendor partnerships (e.g., Anthem, USI, MetLife)
- Oversee wellness programs, retirement plans (401(k)), and employee incentives
Talent Development & Culture
- Identify skill gaps and coordinate training initiatives to support career growth
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment
- Support change management efforts and organizational development initiatives
Analytics & Communication
- Generate HR reports and KPIs to support planning and leadership decisions
- Deliver clear, consistent communication across departments
- Support hiring offers, promotions, and internal transfers with compliant documentation
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a strategic HR role
- Proven experience leading benefits, compliance, performance, or HR tech projects
Skills & Tools
- Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Workday) and Microsoft Office
- Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices
- Excellent communication, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Sound judgment and discretion in sensitive matters
Preferred Certifications
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR
Work Environment & Benefits
- In-office position based in Virginia Beach
- Some travel is required for training or off-site events
- Occasional evening/weekend work during major HR events (e.g., Open Enrollment)
