We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) coming directly from the asset management industry to lead and establish the HR function for a subsidiary of a global investment firm. As the first HRBP in the US office, you will play a critical role in building on foundational HR processes and policies, while acting as a strategic partner to local leadership. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in HR/People operations and employee relations, coupled with a hands-on, solution-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with global leadership and department heads to understand organizational priorities and deliver cohesive HR strategies that support overarching business objectives.
- Act as a thought partner to leadership on people strategy, workforce planning, and organizational design.
- Identify areas for improvement in HR practices and lead the development of scalable, fit-for-purpose solutions.
- Manage performance review processes and promotion assessments.
- Develop, implement, and oversee core HR processes for the U.S. office (onboarding, offboarding, payroll coordination, benefits administration, leave management, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (FMLA, FLSA, EEO, etc.).
- Partner with finance/payroll and benefits vendors to streamline U.S. HR administration.
- Leverage HR data to offer insights that drive informed decision-making across the organization.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on workplace issues, performance concerns, and conflict resolution.
- Champion a positive, inclusive, and performance-driven culture aligned with global values.
Qualifications
- 8-12 years of progressive HR experience within financial services, private equity, or investment management, with a strong foundation in U.S. HR operations and employee relations.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. employment law and HR best practices.
- Proven ability to build and scale HR systems and processes from the ground up.
- Strong interpersonal, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field; PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification is a plus.
