Colby Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Human Resources Director. The 12-month position begins as soon as possible. The candidate should establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, administrators, and faculty. In addition to daily Human Resource objectives, the successful candidate will onboard employees, assist with benefit selection, help with workers’ compensation insurance, health insurance, and other pertinent insurance and compliance-related activities. The candidate will also be responsible for ensuring that institutional policies and practices are followed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruits, helps with interviews, hires, and works collaboratively to onboard new staff.
Process payroll and abide by institutional policies.
Assists employees with benefits selection and day-to-day questions.
Collaborates within the institution to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
Assists with the development, engagement, motivation, and preservation of current and potential staff.
Nurtures a positive working environment.
Maintaining and completing various compliance reports.
Working with federal and institutional work studies and completing required reconciliation pieces with various offices.
Monitors and maintains the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Assisting in Title IX compliance and investigations.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to employees.
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to prioritize tasks and goals.
Experience working in higher education preferred.
Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
It is strongly preferred that the candidate has previous human resource or related experience.
Certifications such as SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, or other professional certifications, are highly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
SALARY
Base salary of $48,500-$67,500.
Flexible benefits program that includes options for single and family health and dental coverage, life insurance, reimbursement accounts, sick leave, and vacation leave allowances. Participation in the state retirement program is required.
