    Job Summary

    The Human Resource Generalist runs the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including benefits, leave, workplace investigations, and enforcing company policies and practices.

    This position reports to the Human Resources Director and may have duties and responsibilities across multiple groups within the organization.

    Essential Functions

    • Serve as front-line HR representative and perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to benefits, leaves, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance management, and recognition and morale.
    • Facilitate and improve communication among employees, the Human Resource department, and executive leadership, to ensure that employees are familiar with the organization’s policies and expectations.
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits. Assist employees with benefit questions, claims issues, and plan changes. Manage employee enrollments, qualifying life events, and eligibility changes and maintain and manage carrier portal administration and eligibility records. Coordinate open enrollment activities including system configuration, communication, and employee education.
    • Administer and manage employee leaves including FMLA, state leave programs, medical leave, parental leave, and company leave policies.
    • Maintain and update employee records within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS). Develop, prepare, and analyze standard and ad hoc HR reports related to benefits, leave, and personnel data.
    • Manage and respond to unemployment claims, employment verifications, routine information requests, including employer responses and documentation.
    • Review, track and document all onboarding activities for new employees utilizing HRIS system including employment set up, E-Verify/ I-9 verification and State new hire reporting requirements.
    • Complete state and federal reporting requirements and coordinate quarterly reporting with applicable agencies or cooperatives.
    • Handle employment-related inquiries from employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
    • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, working alongside others. Work may require occasional weekend and evening work.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak, hear, and use eye/hand coordination. The employee is regularly required to have prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or working on a computer. The employee is occasionally required to visit construction sites.

    Required Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
    • Experience working as a Human Resource Generalist, Specialist, or Coordinator
    • Experience working with employer-sponsored benefit programs
    • Experience working with federal/state paid-leave programs
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
    • Experience using HRIS platforms

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • Master’s degree in Human Resources or related field
    • PHR or SHRM-CP certification
    • Previous commercial construction HR experience
    • Strong project management skills for managing complex HR initiatives

    Background Investigation and Drug Screening Required

    Salary Range: $68,000-$85,000
