Who We Are
Reliant is a nondenominational Christian mission organization that partners with churches and nonprofit ministries to help train and equip missionaries throughout the U.S. and internationally. Our office provides excellence-driven, end-to-end employment services accelerating ministry around the world.
The team is collectively fueled by the desire to see healthy missionaries living on the field with fully-funded employment for their mission. We are an accredited 501(c)3 evangelical Christian mission agency that began over 30 years ago, and we are honored to partner with over 400 churches and nonprofits. Our field missionaries do various things such as counsel broken relationships, help university students find their spiritual beliefs, pioneer new churches & innovative ministries, and help women make a sustainable living in Kenya — all in the name of Jesus Christ.
Our Central Office
Reliant's central office is located in the Lake Nona area of Orlando, Florida. We are a hybrid mix of in-person and remote employees from around the US. Together, we serve over 1,000 missionaries in the US and abroad. We are a close-knit, professional team dedicated to supporting the global work of God's Kingdom. We enjoy providing administrative support in various areas including equipping and training, program management, human resources, event management, donor services, gift processing, payroll & accounting, and IT. We also like to have a lot of fun and work hard to create an enjoyable culture of shared values and mutual respect.
Job Summary
The HR Generalist is responsible for performing a broad range of human resources functions in support of a mission‑driven organization. This role supports recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compensation coordination, compliance, performance management, HR policy implementation, and HR data management.
Serving as a key liaison between employees and management, the HR Generalist helps ensure legal compliance, supports organizational growth, and fosters a culture of engagement, care, and continuous improvement.
The ideal individual for this role is a Christian with human resources experience who is passionate about serving people administratively throughout their employment. This person will function as the front-facing representative of the HR Team, supporting Central Employees, Central MTD-Based Employees, and Field Staff in their primary role of Reliant employment
Responsibilities & Duties
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage and support the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, resume screening, interview coordination, and onboarding.
- Oversee new or proposed roles, including compensation review, job description creation, and approval workflow.
- Coordinate onboarding for new Central team members, ensuring a smooth transition and positive employee experience.
Employee Relations
- Serve as the first point of contact for HR-related questions, providing guidance on HR policies and employee issues.
- Monitor the Central HR and General HR inboxes to ensure timely and accurate support.
- Act as an employee advocate and coordinate mediation when needed, including working with counselors as appropriate.
- Partner with management to address employee relations issues and support a positive workplace culture.
Benefits Administration
- Assist with the administration and communication of employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, health insurance, retirement plans, and leave of absence.
- Support annual open enrollment and benefits education for employees.
Compensation & Payroll Coordination
- Manage compensation records for payroll, including monthly time cards, time-off tracking, and documentation.
- Complete and submit annual salary surveys to compensation benchmarking resources.
- Manage and process Central MTD-Based Employees who serve the Central Team in their primary role, including care-specific coordination.
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Manage planning, communication, and tracking of Annual Required Education.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date employee records and personnel files.
- Ensure proper documentation, legal compliance, and HR data reporting.
- Document and maintain Reliant Central Employment Policies and manage updates to the Central Employment Manual.
Performance Management
- Support managers in performance management processes, including goal setting, coaching, evaluations, and progressive discipline.
- Help coordinate role-specific training and development initiatives.
Training, Development & Engagement
- Assist in planning professional development opportunities and learning programs.
- Support employee engagement initiatives, staff events, and cultural development activities.
- Manage and administer the years-of-service awards program for Central Team members.
- Collaborate with Central leadership on events that reinforce Reliant's culture, employee recognition, and team appreciation.
Offboarding
- Manage and coordinate offboarding processes for departing Central employees, ensuring a positive and compliant separation experience.
Workplace Safety
- Manage workplace safety programs for Central Staff and Central MTD-Based Staff.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 3–5 years of HR experience (2–4 years in an HR generalist capacity preferred).
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- High level of confidentiality, integrity, and discretion.
