    SUMMARY The HR Generalist is a vital member of the Human Resources team, responsible for managing various HR functions to support the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the HR department. This role focuses on fostering positive employee relations, maintaining personnel files, supporting recruitment and onboarding and ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a thorough understanding of HR best practices, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

    **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES **include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Employee Relations:

    · Serve as a point of contact for employee and supervisor inquiries and concerns, addressing issues and resolving conflicts in a timely manner.

    · Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations and investigations.

    · Advises and coaches supervisors on best employee relations practices and strategies.

    · Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback to support improvements in workplace culture and retention strategies.

    · Serves as the primary contact for unemployment claims.

    · Serves as the title IX coordinator for HR.

    · Without exception handles all departmental information in a strictly confidential manner.

    Personnel File Management:

    · Data entry of new hires into the system and updates as appropriate.

    · Maintain and update employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

    · Prepare and process HR documentation, including new hire paperwork, terminations, and changes in employment status.

    · Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies related to documentation and record-keeping.

    Recruitment and Onboarding:

    · Assist the Senior HR Generalist with the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes, and coordinating interviews.

    · Assist the Senior HR Generalist with onboarding activities for new hires, including orientation sessions and integration into the company culture.

    Compliance and Policy Adherence:

    · Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

    · Assist in the development and enforcement of HR policies and procedures.

    · Conduct regular audits of HR processes and employee files to maintain compliance.

    Training and Development:

    · Assist Senior HR Generalist in the planning and execution of training programs and professional development opportunities for employees.

    HR Administration:

    · Prepare HR reports and metrics as required by management.

    · Manage HR-related administrative tasks such as updating and maintaining HR databases.

    · Comply with all aspects of the law school’s Customer Service Standards.

    QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     Must be professional and confidential of all department data and correspondence. The person must have a poised and professional image; strong ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively and efficiently with all employees, visitors and students while projecting a positive image for the area and law school. Service oriented with ability to make all visitors feel welcome. Must be computer literate with proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and the ability to learn new programs as necessary. Experience with an HRMS is required. Must be detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment. Background check is required.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    College degree and at least 4 years of Human Resources experience to include 3 years employee relations experience is required.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Must possess outstanding customer service attitude and have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Knowledge of human resource, payroll, and benefits terms and processes preferred.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to perform basic to intermediate math essential. Must possess the ability to analyze numerical data and detect patterns, errors and trends.


    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to define routine problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to solve routine problems and/or deal with a variety of variables in situations, especially when department head may be out of office or unavailable. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision in order to accurately input data and proofread; distance vision in order to recognize and assist visitors to the department.

    Extremely fast paced, multi-tasking, non-smoking work environment. Must be able to work the general business schedule of the law school (9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) plus occasional evenings and weekends as necessary.
