Job Summary: The Human Resources (HR) Manager will oversee all aspects of Human Resources for our growing furniture business with an anticipated workforce of 150 - 160 employees. This role involves managing recruitment, employee relations, training, benefits administration, performance management, compliance with labor laws, and maintaining a positive and productive work environment. The HR Manager will act as a strategic partner to leadership, ensuring that HR practices align with business goals, enhance employee satisfaction, and support the growth and development of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Staffing: Lead the recruitment and onboarding process for all positions, including job postings, interviewing, selecting candidates, and facilitating new hire orientation. Ensure the hiring process is efficient and aligns with the company’s values and culture.
Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related issues, concerns, and queries. Handle conflict resolution, workplace issues, and disciplinary actions with fairness and in compliance with company policies.
Compensation, Benefits & Payroll: Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks. Administer payroll and ensure compensation packages are competitive and align with industry standards.
Compliance & Policy Development: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws, regulations, and employment standards. Update and enforce company policies and procedures to ensure they are current and legally compliant.
Employee Engagement & Culture: Develop initiatives to improve employee morale, retention, and satisfaction. Implement engagement surveys, action plans, and recognition programs to create a positive company culture.
HR Reporting & Analytics: Maintain accurate HR records and prepare reports on key metrics, such as turnover, absenteeism, and employee engagement. Use data to provide insights and recommendations to ownership.
Health & Safety: Oversee workplace safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and fostering a safe working environment.
Strategic Planning: Partner with senior leadership to align HR strategies with overall business objectives. Provide insights and recommendations to improve organizational effectiveness and business performance.
Performance Management: Oversee the performance management process, including setting goals, conducting performance appraisals, providing coaching and feedback, and managing employee development plans.
Training & Development: Identify training and development needs and design or coordinate programs to support skill-building, leadership development, and team collaboration. Foster a culture of continuous learning
Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience as an HR Manager or in a similar HR leadership role, with experience managing HR functions in a retail, manufacturing or production environment (furniture industry experience is a plus).
Strong knowledge of HR practices, labor laws, and regulations in both Texas and New Mexico, especially in relation to retail, manufacturing and warehouse environments.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
Experience in recruitment, employee relations, compensation and benefits administration, and training & development.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage complex HR issues independently.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in an HR role, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial capacity.
HR certifications (such as SHRM-CP, PHR) are a plus.
Experience working in a retail, manufacturing, production, or distribution environment is highly preferred.
Spanish speaking preferred.
