    Join a team with growth opportunities! Our client, a successful law firm in southwestern Connecticut, is seeking a dynamic Human Resources Manager with the skills and experience to build out a high-performing HR department.

    The HR Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the law firm's human resources functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and fostering a positive workplace environment.

    This HR role involves strategic planning, employee relations, policy development, talent management, and compliance with multi-state employment laws and regulations. In this role, you will play a key role in nurturing company culture and driving employee engagement.

    Key Responsibilities

    Talent Acquisition and Onboarding:

    • Assist with development and implementation of recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
    • Manage the end-to-end hiring process, including posting job openings, interviewing candidates, and extending offers.
    • Oversee the onboarding process to ensure new employees are integrated smoothly into the law firm.

    Employee Relations and Engagement - Human Resources Manager

    • Act as a trusted advisor to employees and management on HR-related matters.
    • Mediate and resolve workplace conflicts in a fair and consistent manner.
    • Develop initiatives to promote employee engagement, recognition, and retention.
    • Oversee company employee event planning.

    Performance Management - Human Resources Manager

    • Implement and manage performance appraisal systems to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
    • Support managers in setting performance objectives and addressing underperformance.

    Policy Development and Compliance - Human Resources Manager

    • Develop and maintain company policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
    • Comply with multi-state labor laws where the firm may operate outside of CT.
    • Ensure the organization adheres to workplace safety, anti-discrimination, and equal opportunity regulations.

    Training and Development - Human Resources Manager

    • Identify training needs and help coordinate professional development programs for staff.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning and career growth.

    Compensation and Benefits - Human Resources Manager

    • Administer and oversee employee compensation and benefits programs.
    • Work with benefits brokers on employee benefits renewals.
    • Conduct periodic benefits reviews to ensure competitiveness and alignment with industry standards.

    HR Metrics and Reporting:

    • Track and analyze key HR metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of HR programs.
    • Present reports to senior management with actionable insights.

    Qualifications - Human Resources Manager - Law Firm

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
    • 5+ years of experience in human resources, with at least 3 of those years in a management role in a law firm.
    • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
    • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in HRIS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
    • A background in HR management of a professional services firm is preferred.

    The law firm HR Manager position work location is onsite and in the office with some travel required. Compensation is commensurate with experience, credentials and other background. The firm offers an employee benefits package, retirement plan and generous PTO.
