    The HR Generalist is responsible for managing a broad set of general human resources activities, policies, procedures, and programs for the organization. The HR Generalist role’s duties consist of approximately 70% recruiting and onboarding and 30% other human resources activities (examples include employee relations, affirmative action, EEO, compliance reporting, discipline, terminations, promotions, etc.).

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Identify staff vacancies and recruit, interview and select applicants.
    • Prepare or maintain employment records related to events such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software.
    • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering policies and helping resolve work-related problems.
    • Advise managers on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes.
    • Perform difficult employee relations duties, including refereeing disputes, firing employees, and administering disciplinary procedures.
    • Plan and conduct new employee orientations and other employee training as needed.
    • Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
    • Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures.

    Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:

    • 2-4 years of experience in a generalist role are required.
    • The ability to develop a high level of personal credibility in partnering with employees and management is required.
    • Extensive knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and employment laws/regulations is required.
    • Must be conversationally fluent in English and in Spanish.
    • Must have demonstrated ability with desktop and online software solutions such as MS Outlook, MS Excel, Internet, HRIS, etc.
    • Must be comfortable in presenting to audiences of 10-30+ employees.

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field a plus.
    • SHRM/HRCI certification(s) a plus.
