Overview The Adoption Manager oversees all on-site and off-site pet outcomes, including adoptions, transports and transfers. The Adoption Manager will also be responsible for recruiting foster families, inspections day-to-day management and assignments, and working with medical and behavior staff to evaluate animals for best placement. They will coordinate with Animal Care Manager for potential transports, behavior concerns etc. In addition, the Adoption Manager maintains front office operations answering phones and greeting visitors and addressing their needs or concerns.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Contacting or greeting potential adopters, scheduling appointments, screening and facilitating on-site adoptions.
· Coordinate off-site adoptions, including weekly and special events. Solicit new potential locations and manage incoming requests for HSHC participation in community events.
· Work with volunteer coordinator for volunteer staffing. Plan and execute training for all adoption volunteers.
· Arrange showing of foster animals and support those fosters who conduct their own screenings and adoptions.
· Work with Transport Coordinator in planning and executing transports of dogs and cats to receiving agencies in the northeast.
· Covering phones and emails, assisting walk-ins, assisting other staff as needed.
· Planning recruitment of new volunteers and fosters through referrals, social media, advertising, etc.
· Contact foster applicants, conduct state mandated foster inspections, provide all material and equipment needed for foster animals
· Maintain foster kits and supplies
· Assist fosters with regularly scheduled and emergency medical care
· Work with Animal Care Manager for planning of transports out of foster
· Work with board to plan volunteer/foster recognition events.
· Staff Support – assisting with tasks as needed and evening closing including enrichment and medications administration when required
Qualifications
· Previous rescue experience, either volunteer or paid, specifically facilitating dog and cat adoptions
· Familiarity with canine behavior assessment tools, experience with play groups, and confidence in conducting dog-to-dog meet and greets.
· Knowledge of basic medical conditions, neo-natal care and vaccines and microchipping.
· Excellent organization and communication skills
· Self-directed
· High School Diploma or GED
