    Job Description

    The Charter Technical Engineering Center (CTEC) facilities in Englewood, CO oversees the design and architecture of Charter’s multi-billion dollar network infrastructure. We investigate, select, develop, and integrate technologies and solutions that meet the needs of the company for short, medium and long term initiatives. This includes the delivery of the technology plan and future architecture for Voice, Video, Data, Optical, Commercial, Cloud, CPE, Network and Access. JOB SUMMARY Ideal candidate will be responsible for virtualization infrastructure evaluation scheduling and planning, infrastructure QA and test automation, and infrastructure lifecycle management. Additional responsibilities will include gap analysis and feature enhancement recommendations for current and existing platforms, to ensure operational stability expectations are met or exceeded for application owner service delivery. Directly interface with other product owners internal to the team, including storage, compute, microservices and network teams. Participate with cross-functional and cross-organization teams to develop solutions and strategies for Charter’s Software Defined Data Center. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience

    • Assigned complex and critical projects that involve several technical systems and constituents.

    • Designs, implements, monitors, enhances and troubleshoots systems in assigned areas.

    • Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary.

    • Provides Engineering Technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards and documentation are met.

    • Using DevOps processes, creating and automating methods to scale OpenStack compute, control, and storage within and across data centers and remote sites.

    • Automate the backup, failover and disaster recovery procedures of an enterprise OpenStack environment.

    • Develop, automate, and manage patching procedures for underlying OpenStack components, OS, and tools.

    • Lead strategy for cloud application design, management, and operations.

    • Use established and new architectures create tactical plans for cloud deployments using legacy and emerging compute, network and storage options

    • Design and plan cloud architecture using least cost, least risk and most efficient solutions and have the ability to communicate them to executive management.

    • Be an active participant and influence in organizations such as Linux Foundation.

    • Support and maintain existing lab infrastructure leveraging defined ticketing and resource scheduling processes.

    • Continuous evaluation of new and existing virtualization infrastructure capabilities and features, to ensure requirements are met for both existing applications and new product services.

    • Contributes to architectural discussions, with both internal and external peers, to ensure proposed solutions are meeting business and operational needs.

    • Collaborates with other engineering and operational organizations to understand unmet requirements and challenges, and recommend solutions.

    • Sets standards for approved infrastructure deployments and integrations.

    • Knows, understands and follows company policy.

    • Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering and/or related and/or equivalent work experience.

    • Advanced knowledge of VMware suite of products

    • Advanced knowledge of OpenStack

    • Advanced knowledge of Infrastructure as a Code (Terraform)

    • Advanced knowledge of Linux

    • Advanced knowledge in Ansible automation

    • Advanced knowledge in Python

    • Advanced knowledge of CI/CD tools such as GitLab, Jenkins

    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

    • Certified OpenStack Administrator (COA)

    • Basic knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology

    • Basic knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model

    • Basic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations

    • Basic knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances

    • Basic knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio

    • Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
