    Job Description

    Are you a talented Mechatronics Design Engineer with a proven track record in design and a strong grasp of mechanical engineering principles? Hummingbird Scientific is seeking to expand its team by adding a new Mechatronics Design Engineer.

    As a Mechatronic Design Engineer at Hummingbird Scientific, your responsibility is to leverage your expertise in contributing to the design and development of innovative products in the field of electron microscopy. You’ll be utilizing advanced system modeling and design skills to integrate electronics and instrumentation, conduct mechanical analyses such as FEA and structural/static analysis, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our products. The role requires a systematic approach, familiarity with electrical and vacuum systems, and hands-on experience in both electrical and mechanical assembly. Your proficiency in product testing will be crucial in maintaining our commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.

    Key Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated mechanical design experience, including kinematics, system dynamics, mechanism design, system design, and product design.
    • Precision instrumentation design experience
    • Mechanism design for precision motion instrumentation experience
    • Experience with design for manufacturing
    • Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD modeling and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

    Education & Experience

    • MS in Mechanical Engineering plus 3 years of industry experience or a BS plus 5 years of industry experience.

    Optional Qualifications:

    • Background in Mechanical design engineering
    • Software development experience (Labview or equivalent)
    • Experience with system-level electronics and instrumentation integration
    • Understanding of mechanical analysis: FEA, structural/static analysis
    • Lab / hands-on experience in electrical & mechanical assembly
    • Product testing experience
