The HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems. This role includes troubleshooting and diagnosing system issues, performing preventative maintenance, ensuring compliance with applicable safety codes and regulations, and recommending energy-efficient improvements. Responsibilities: • Install HVAC systems, including heating and air conditioning units, ductwork, thermostats, and refrigeration equipment. • Test and inspect systems after installation to verify proper operation and performance. • Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure HVAC systems operate efficiently, safely, and at optimal performance levels. • Clean or replace filters, check refrigerant levels, calibrate thermostats, and lubricate moving components as part of regular maintenance. • Inspect HVAC systems for signs of wear or damage and verify compliance with applicable safety regulations. • Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues, including electrical faults, refrigerant leaks, and mechanical failures. • Repair or replace malfunctioning components such as compressors, fans, pumps, and thermostats. • Complete repairs efficiently and cost-effectively while minimizing system downtime for the customer. • Provide recommendations on system upgrades and energy-efficient solutions to improve overall performance. • Install and configure energy-efficient HVAC systems and smart thermostat controls. • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including applicable building codes and safety standards. • Maintain a safe work environment by following established safety procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). • Handle refrigerants and other hazardous materials in accordance with environmental and safety regulations. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications • Minimum of 10 years of experience. • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment. • EPA Certification required. • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical wiring, refrigeration cycles, and industry tools. • Understanding of applicable building codes and safety regulations, with the ability to ensure compliance. • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly diagnose issues and implement effective solutions. • High level of attention to detail when performing installations, maintenance, and repairs to ensure system efficiency and safety. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions to customers. Preferred Qualifications • The ability to measure and draw a duct is a plus. Physical Requirements This role requires the ability to move safely and efficiently throughout active job sites, as well as the ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively with coworkers and clients. Both essential and secondary job duties may require physical stamina for activities such as bending, stooping, sitting, walking, and standing for extended periods. The position involves frequent movement and extended work outside of a traditional office environment, including exposure to varying weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, and other inclement elements. Work may also involve navigating rough or uneven terrain and routinely lifting up to 35 pounds. When required, the employee must properly wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including but not limited to hard hats, steel-toed boots, eye protection, respiratory protection, and hearing protection.
