    Summer/Fall 2023

    Hyalex Orthopaedics is an award winning, venture funded medical device start-up developing transformational synthetic cartilage technology and implant systems for diseased and damaged joints.     We are seeking an intern or co-op candidate to work directly with the R&D, process, and manufacturing teams supporting the development of innovative synthetic cartilage implants. This position will work on-site in our Lexington, MA facility.

    Role and Responsibilities:

          • Characterize, optimize, and scale-up chemical processes critical for manufacture of Hyalex materials       • Conduct tests and analyze results to study the properties of Hyalex's novel materials and devices       • Assist optimization of test methods and manufacturing processes       • Plan and document studies, and present data reviews       • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications/Work Experience:  

          • Rising fourth or fifth year undergraduate student or graduate student studying polymer chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related discipline       • Experience with synthetic and analytic chemistry in an industrial setting preferred       • Experience in optimization and scale-up of polymer/macromer synthesis       • Experience in chemical process/manufacturing activities in an industrial setting preferred       • Experience with medical devices is a plus       • Hands-on problem solving skills with a strong attention to detail       • Excellent communication and writing skills       • Resourcefulness, diligence, and creativity       • Previous experience in a regulated environment preferred
