    Hyalex Orthopaedics is an award winning, venture funded medical device start-up developing transformational synthetic cartilage technology and implant systems for diseased and damaged joints.     We are seeking a co-op candidate to work directly with the R&D, product development, and manufacturing teams supporting the development of innovative synthetic cartilage implants.  This position will work on-site in our Lexington facility.

    ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conduct tests and analyze results to study the mechanical, physical, and chemical characteristics of Hyalex's novel materials and devices
    • Assist in test method development and validation activities
    • Assist in the completion of design control documentation (design inputs, risk analysis, etc.)
    • Assist in creation of models and prints
    • Plan and document studies, and present data reviews
    • Other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS/WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • Fourth or Fifth year undergraduate student or graduate student studying mechanical engineering or a related discipline

    • Experience in static and fatigue mechanical testing and Solidworks

    • Experience in polymeric materials and medical devices is a plus

    • Hands-on problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail

    • Excellent communication and writing skills

    • Resourcefulness, diligence, and creativity

    • Previous experience in a regulated environment
