Some jobs give you a task list. This one gives you a runway.
As our Shop Technician, you'll be the beating heart of PIRTEK Stockton's service center. One hour you're at the counter fabricating a hose assembly for a customer who needs it now. The next, you're managing inventory, coordinating with field technicians, or handling the operational details that keep the whole machine running smoothly.
We're not just hiring a shop tech. We're looking for someone who wants to grow into the operational backbone of this business. If you've got sharp instincts, love learning how things work — both mechanical and organizational — and want a front-row seat to building something from the ground up, this is your opportunity.
About PIRTEK Stockton
PIRTEK is the nation's leading provider of on-site hydraulic and industrial hose assembly and replacement — operating 24/7/365 with a 1-hour emergency response promise. When a machine goes down on a job site, farm, or factory floor, PIRTEK is the call that gets it running again.
PIRTEK Stockton is a locally owned and operated franchise serving the Central Valley — one of the most industrially and agriculturally active regions in California. We're early in our story here, which means the person who joins us now gets to help shape what this business becomes.
Our values aren't just wall art — they drive how we operate every day:
People — We invest in each other. Your growth is part of our growth.
Integrity — We do what we say. Always.
Real — No corporate fluff — just honest, straight communication.
Teamwork — The shop and the field work as one.
Excellence — Good enough isn't good enough.
Kaizen — We're always improving — and we want people who love to grow.
The Role — Half Craft, Half Command Center
This is a genuinely dual role. About half your time is hands-on — fabricating hose assemblies, serving walk-in customers, and supporting the technical side of the business. The other half is operational — keeping inventory tight, coordinating field technicians, and making sure the service center runs like clockwork.
That balance is intentional. We're building toward you owning the operational side of this business as it grows. The shop tech role is the foundation — and if you execute well, the path forward is real.
What You'll Be Doing
On the technical side:
Fabricate and assemble hydraulic and industrial hose assemblies at the shop counter
Serve walk-in and call-in customers with speed, accuracy, and a great attitude — and follow up to ensure satisfaction and encourage Google reviews
Diagnose hose failures and recommend the right solution — you become the expert
Maintain shop tools, equipment, and the fabrication workspace
Adhere to all PIRTEK and industry safety standards — non-negotiable
On the operations side:
Manage shop inventory — track stock levels, place orders, receive and organize incoming parts
Coordinate and dispatch field technicians (MSSTs) as service calls come in
Handle customer communications — phone, email, and in-person with professionalism
Process service records, invoices, and other administrative tasks through our systems
Support the owner with reporting, scheduling, and general business operations
Identify process improvements — if something can run better, we want to hear it
What You Bring to the Table
We're not looking for someone who has done exactly this before — we're looking for someone with the raw ingredients to be exceptional. Here's what that looks like:
Mechanically inclined — you like knowing how things work and you're comfortable with tools
Organized by nature — you notice when things are out of order and you do something about it
Great communicator — clear, friendly, and professional whether talking to a customer or a colleague
Quick learner who takes initiative — you don't wait to be told twice
Comfortable with computers and basic software — data entry, email, inventory systems
Reliable and consistent — the shop depends on you showing up ready to go
Positive attitude — especially on the days that don't go perfectly
The Basics (Required)
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to Stockton, CA
Ability to pass a background check
Able to lift up to 50 pounds and be on your feet for extended periods
Bonus points (not required):
Experience in a shop, warehouse, or service environment
Any background in inventory management, dispatching, or customer service
Familiarity with hydraulics, fluid power, or industrial equipment
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, plus Saturday 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Sundays are yours. No on-call rotation for this role — predictable hours so you can plan your life.
