    Overview: The Business Development Specialist position is primarily involved with supporting a sales team(s) in growth/developing markets and/or applications, and leads analysis of new potential applications, providing the technical background to develop a viable solution and business case. This role works directly with Design Engineering (DE) for product development, and with marketing and sales for commercial strategy and launch. Expected to become a subject matter expert (SME) in developing markets and focus areas for sales growth.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develops expertise regarding Hydro-Thermal equipment and the solutions we provide in order to expand company capabilities and/or identify new equipment design opportunities to solve customer needs.
    • Reviews technical specifications (RFQ's) and other documents when application is in a developing or growth market in conjunction with applications engineer.
    • Becomes a subject matter expert regarding Hydro Thermal equipment for internal and external discussions for industry events, customer discussions, and site visits.
    • Provides high level technical papers and presents at conferences and training sessions.
    • This is a very hands-on position that includes travel to customer sites to perform plant audits, system design solutions, technical review meetings and equipment trials.
    • Leads trials at customer sites or in-house when application is in the development phase or during product launch testing of equipment, working directly with applications and/or design engineering.
    • Coordinates with sales to identify possible market opportunities and explores growth potential through research and customer audits.
    • Works with marketing and sales within the industry team to develop commercial strategies and focused applications targets.
    • Champions development ideas for the industries supported by the role and formulates the idea into a project scope and business case.

    Required Qualifications:

    • 5+ years direct experience providing technical sales support and strategic growth planning on a commercial selling team
    • Demonstrated communication skills for direct customer contact and leading technical discussions.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial strategy involving marketing and sales cycle
    • Process/system engineering experience with the ability to interpret and develop custom P&ID's, with an understanding of architectural, mechanical and electrical diagrams.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for providing a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
    • Team player with a positive attitude.
    • Capable of working on multiple projects at once.
    • Highly organized with prioritization and time management skills.
    • PC literate, including Microsoft Office software.

    Preferred Experience:

    • Experience with troubleshooting and developing sequence of operations regarding PLCs, HMI and PID loops.
    • Subject matter expertise in at least one of Hydro Thermal’s current market segments.
    • Experience in topics and calculations in the field of Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, and Fluid Dynamics.
    • Familiarity with Infor CRM, SalesLogix, Salesforce or similar customer relationship management (CRM) software.

    Education:

    • BS Engineering degree (or industry related science field) minimum. Preferred MS engineering, MBA or other advanced degree.

    Travel:

    • Up to 30% travel, domestic and international locations required.
