A Hydronics Superintendent oversees the installation and commissioning of commercial boiler, chiller, and hydronic piping systems. This role directs pipefitters and technicians on mechanical construction projects. Responsibilities include coordinating hot water, chilled water, steam, and glycol systems from prefabrication through startup.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES — HYDRONICS SUPERINTENDENT
- Supervise installation of boilers, chillers, hot/chilled water piping, pumps, expansion tanks, and heat exchangers on commercial projects
- Coordinate daily crew assignments, material deliveries, and subcontractor schedules to maintain project timelines
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, P&IDs, and hydronic system schematics to ensure accurate field installations
- Conduct quality inspections of welds, joints, insulation, and pressure testing for hydronic loops and distribution systems
- Enforce OSHA safety standards and maintain job site documentation including daily reports and as-built drawings
QUALIFICATIONS — HYDRONICS SUPERINTENDENT
- 5+ years of hands-on experience installing or supervising hydronic systems including boilers, chillers, and hot/chilled water piping
- Journeyman-level pipefitting, plumbing, or HVAC trade background with demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read mechanical blueprints, isometric drawings, and piping schematics for commercial hydronic systems
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing field crews and coordinating with mechanical contractors
- OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS — HYDRONIC SYSTEMS SUPERINTENDENT
- Experience with glycol systems, radiant heating, steam condensate return, or variable speed hydronic pumping
- Universal CFC/EPA 608 certification or state-level mechanical license
- Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and controls integration for boiler/chiller plants
- Previous experience on data center, hospital, or institutional campus mechanical projects
- Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software proficiency
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS — HYDRONICS SUPERINTENDENT
- Stand and walk on construction sites for 8-10 hours per day on concrete, gravel, and uneven surfaces
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly; occasionally move materials or equipment up to 75 lbs with assistance
- Work in mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, and rooftops with exposure to temperature extremes and weather conditions
- Climb ladders and scaffolding to inspect overhead piping installations and equipment
- Full-time on-site presence required; occasional overtime and weekend work as project schedules demand
