    ROLE OVERVIEW:

    We are looking for a leader for our System Safety Engineering team in support of the engineering team. This position will lead groups responsible for the safety of aircraft and related systems. This role requires an experienced professional with expertise in safety requirements definition and fault analysis. The System Safety Engineering leader ensures all requirements and safety analysis are adequate to prove the airworthiness of the vehicle. You will work closely with the research & development verticals. Our ideal candidate is a team player, a mentor, and exhibits a can-do attitude while approaching his or her work with vigor and determination.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for System Safety Engineering organization execution -cost, schedule, budget, risk
    • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team and/or cross-disciplinary research & development teams
    • Manage execution of work by teams and team members through monitoring progress, providing technical direction, and problem solving solutions
    • Mentor engineers in all aspects of System Safety Engineering
    • Ensure that safety is integral to the development process
    • Promote cohesiveness between System Safety and Systems Engineering teams
    • Provide guidance in industry best practices, as well as Company core values, to promote development of world-class engineering talent
    • Manage the product development capacity and planning process through active recruiting and retention of skilled employees
    • Manage the advancement of the product development process by providing technical support, developing tools and infrastructure, facilitating learning and continuity across teams

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • B.S minimum in the areas of Aerospace/Aeronautical, Mechanical, Systems, Industrial Engineering or other related fields
    • Experience with ARP4754A system development process on a certification program
    • Experience with ARP4754A and ARP4761 safety processes
    • Experience with Systems Safety Analysis, Fault Hazard Analysis, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and related activities at system and component levels
    • Experience with requirements management
    • 10+ years in systems design, development, safety analysis, integration, and certification
    • 5+ years of demonstrated progression in inspiring and leading technical teams
    • Critical thinker, adept at relationship building and leading through influence

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • M.S in Systems Engineering or related field
    • Experience with electric propulsion air or ground vehicles
    • Experience with high rate automotive manufacturing
    • Experience with FAA or EASA certification projects
    • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies
    • Experience with CAFTA or other fault tree analysis tools
    • Experience with DO-254 and/or DO-178 certification
