Business Development Coordinator

Reports to: Sales and Marketing Director
Directly Supervises: This position does not have direct reports

Position Purpose: The Business Development Coordinator has the primary responsibility of seeking out new business opportunities for research trials. The Business Development Coordinator is also responsible for overseeing the Feasibility process and ensuring timely submission of all documents and resources needed to secure new trials. The Business Development Coordinator has general sales and administrative duties that assists with increasing and developing industry relationships to ensure a robust trial pipeline for all sites.
Essential Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a stable, reliable study stream
Develop working relationships with key decision makers in site selection
Identify clinical trial opportunities through industry research and related events, publications, and announcements
Screen potential trial opportunities through market analysis strategies, operations requirements, potential financial impact, medical acceptance, and resolving internal priorities
Enhance an efficient, timely, and fluid Feasibility process
Effectively convey to all internal groups regarding deadlines, outstanding needs, requirements, expectations, etc.
Decide on viability of each study lead and placement at each site
Identify industry trends and decide on pipeline direction
Work closely with the Sales and Marketing Director to determine strategic business opportunities, account planning, financial targeting, and customer service needs
Expand trial opportunities into new therapeutic areas
Close new study deals by coordinating requirements with business operations
Ensure exposure to new CROs, Pharma, and Biotech, while focusing on site requested indications
Gain site status in preferred site programs with industry partners
Perform monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual progress reports
Maintain pristine CRM databases and reports
Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
Remain current with changes and use of CRM to improve productivity
Attentive to detail, accuracy, timeliness, and excellence
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Position Requirements:
Clinical research experience required
Education: Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in related field
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Ability to maintain professionalism and professional standards. Must have a sense of urgency. Set priorities. Identify and resolve problems effectively and efficiently. Excellent communication and organizational skills for managing workflow and follow-up. Ability to demonstrate reliability and maintain confidentiality. Possess temperament and emotional intelligence for dealing with others professionally. Must have a “do-what-it-takes” attitude. Excellent speaking skills to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, physicians, industry professionals, and others in person or over the phone.
