    Directly Supervises: This position does not have direct reports

    Position Purpose: Facilitate professional, efficient service to patients and the clinical trial industry; documentation; supervision; coordination of relationships with physicians, patients, and local and sponsor laboratories; monitor and maintain patient flow and workflow to promote professionalism, patient confidentiality, and blinding parameters. To evaluate and treat all patients entering clinical trials and to determine eligibility of subjects in clinical trials as necessary.

    GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Instruct and counsel patients and their families; Involve them in informed decision making with regards to their illness, injury, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, treatment regimens, normal growth and development, health maintenance or enrollment in clinical research

    Assist Clinical Research Coordinator and Research Assistants in determining patient eligibility for a clinical trial

    Facilitate referrals of patients to other medical providers, medical facilities or other health/social service agencies when appropriate as per the delegation of the supervising physician

    Facilitate and promote relationships with local physicians and their staff in order to increase referrals

    Perform traditional clinical skills

    Must be able to obtain a complete History and Physical, Social History and Family History

    Must be able to perform Incision and Drainage procedures and therapeutic injections

    Must be able to order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests and procedures

    Be familiar with protocols for active and upcoming studies. Accurately complete documentation

    Review all lab and procedural results, intervene as needed, and organize all results for physician review

    Participate in the centralized study feasibility process. This would include determining whether a study is possible to complete and if there is an appropriate Principal Investigator and patient population

    Evaluate Affiliate Site’s capability for new trial opportunities

    Complete Study Feasibility Questionnaires as necessary

    Perform regular inspection of crash cart and accurately document the same; Arrange for and maintain documentation for calibration of equipment

    Monitor and maintain patient flow and workflow promoting professionalism, patient confidentiality and blinding parameters

    Assist in the development or revision of office protocols to promote ongoing Quality Initiatives

    Attend Investigator’s meetings and other educational conferences as deemed appropriate by supervising physician

    Perform or delegate daily organizational tasks as defined in the office

    Other duties as assigned

Possess excellent dialogue skills to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, physicians, industry professionals, and others in person, over the phone, or via email. Demonstrate ability to accept delegation of tasks and execute in a timely manner.

    Required education: Master of Science – Nurse Practitioner Program

    Preferred: Medical or Clinical Experience: 1 year

    Required Certifications: BLS Certification, ACLS Certification, Licensed

    Physical Demands:

    Manual Dexterity: Work requires moderate speed and accuracy, excellent keyboarding skill for computer use.

    Physical Effort: Work requires considerable variety of fairly steady active physical exertion. Some and/or continuous standing or walking. Some lifting of items less than 20 lbs.

    Working Conditions: Potential for early morning and/or late-night responsibility

    Hazards: Potential exposure to blood and body fluid
