    IAP is looking for Client Server Network Architect / Site Lead to support an upcoming opportunity in Ft. Eustis, VA. The purpose of this effort is to provide technical support for Army Training Information Systems (ATIS) and Information Mission Area (IMA) automation equipment, supported system applications, hosted and supported by Army Training Support Center (ATSC), located at Fort Eustis, VA.  Automation Technical Support services provides technical support for all baseline and mission related network components, computers, software, video teleconferencing equipment, projectors, limited wiring, network equipment/software, switches, configuration management, servers, virtual environments/infrastructure, applications, and all associated communications equipment owned and operated by ATSC mission.

     

    SUMMARY OF POSITION:

     

    THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PROVIDES THE FOLLOWING CLIENT/SERVER/NETWORK ARCHITECT/SITE LEAD SERVICES/FUNCTIONS:

    • Responsible for the overall design, integration, troubleshooting, and day-to-day operation of the ATSC client-mission servers and supporting client/server environments/infrastructures
    • Makes recommendations to improve ATSC mission systems communications, network, application integration, and IA security compliance
    • Troubleshoot and fix/assist in the operation of Desktop Video Systems, as well as ATSC Conference room multimedia systems (i.e., installation of multimedia video boards, smart cards, video cameras, etc.)
    • Ability to prepare project management charts/plans that depict work assignments and completion schedules
    • Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of complex system characteristics to enhance an operating system
    • Provides functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of hardware and software operating systems for the organization's products
    • Identifies system requirements for operations and security, and works with other engineers and staff to develop designs and integrate components
    • Performs system designs, developments and product verification testing on power, control systems, software, hardware, and equipment
    • Ability to prepare project management charts/plans that depict work assignments and completion schedules
    • Develops the operations, management, integration & security requirements
    • Develops and documents system architecture, including relevant user cases
    • Develops standards for the client/server relational database structure for the organization (SQL, ORACLE, etc.)
    • Develops security procedures for design reviews, and for operational monitoring, recording, and responding to security events
    • Develops the customer’s operations & system integration plan including end-to-end scenarios including schedules and budgets
    • Develops verification plans based on requirements and architecture documents
    • Defines operations, security and integration tool requirements to allow users to evaluate and analyze their network resources for performance and scalability in test-bed and modelled environments
    • Provides technical direction and oversees integration and prototype development efforts
    • Develops models for future architectural enhancements to system hardware
    • Provides technical leadership in operations, security, and integration for the client network
    • Leads technical tests, deployments and support projects and advises the feasibility of potential future projects to management
    • Manages installation, maintenance and support of complex technical infrastructures, hardware, and system software components and advises on selection of technological purchases with regards to processing, data storage, data access, and applications development
    • Manages and tunes platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved
    • Responsible for the instructing, assigning, and overseeing the performance of less experienced software systems engineers
    • Coordinates the activities of the software engineering department with other sections of the corporation's information systems operation
    • Provides team leadership to less experienced systems engineers
    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
    • Ensures compliance with DOD and ATSC policy and requirement

     

    REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: (OR EQUIVALENT)

    • Masters Degree, Bachelors Degree, or 2yr Tech School w/10 years’ experience
    • Must have team lead experience in analyzing, designing, and troubleshooting automated information systems, planning network infrastructures, and enterprise applications, Windows environments, VMware infrastructure, and Oracle systems
    • Must have knowledge of complex data center communications, networks, cloud environments and migration strategies, and applications, to include different media used for communications, wiring, routers, reliability, availability, and Army/DOD IT/IA standards
    • Experience utilizing change and configuration management processes and procedures (ITIL)
    • Familiar with Open System Environment (OSE) requirements

     

    DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

    10+ years related technical experience working with Systems and VMware Virtualization technologies, tools, and techniques

    In-depth understanding and experience with the DOD Architecture Framework and other key DOD network architecture and strategic planning instructions

    • Microsoft Windows 10 Secure Host Baseline (SHB) desktop development & imaging
    • Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2014/2016
    • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
    • Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
    • Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013/2016
    • Rights Management (Drive mapping/file transfer)

    INSTALLATION, OPERATIONS, MAINTENANCE AND OPTIMIZATION OF THE BELOW SYSTEMS INFRASTRUCTURE COMPONENTS:SERVERS & NETWORK APPLIANCES (PROXIES, LOAD BALANCERS, ETC.)

    • NAS/SAN Storage
    • Virtualized Environment
    • Deploying/managing/optimizing servers in virtualized environment
    • Developing PowerShell scripts

     

    REQUIRED LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS

    • Systems/Network/Software Certification: DoDI 8570.01M IAT Level III

    • Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) Certification or equivalent to include VMware, Cisco (CCNA), or other technical certs.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT

    • Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds.

     

    TRAVEL

    • Periodic conference related travel to Seattle, WA, Fort Lauderdale, FL, or Anaheim, CA once per year.

     

    SECURITY CLEARANCE:

    • US SECRET / Eligible for SSBI clearance
