    RMS WILL BE PERFORMING BASE OPERATION SUPPORT (BOS-1) TO THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES AT AHMAD AL JABER AIR BASE (AJAB) IN KUWAIT, AS PART OF THE AFCAP IV CONTRACT.

    MULTIPURPOSE VEHICLE MECHANIC (MVM)

     RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Determine the overall mechanical condition of vehicles and equipment.
    • Systematically analyze malfunctions by visual and auditory examination or through the use of test equipment, including capability of using diagnostic test equipment and of accurately diagnosing and repairing assigned electronic controlled equipment.
    • Repair, adjust, overhaul or replace major assemblies or sub-assemblies such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering assemblies, tracks, hydraulic system components and equipment attachments.
    • Remove, disassemble and repair gasoline or diesel engines and components.
    • Repair components by replacing worn or damaged parts with new or reconditioned parts; grinds, fits, balances or arrange parts for welding or machining and reassembly; adjust and tests repaired units for proper operation.
    • Align bearing loads, gear tooth contact and backlash to manufactures specifications.
    • Adjust valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, traction units, time injection pumps, accessory shaft gear trains and other systems unique to this type of equipment.
    • Perform preventive and special maintenance and vehicle recovery operations.
    • Use technical publications in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers maintenance schedules.
    • Ensure maintenance on vehicles (corrosion control, winterization, storage and shipment) is performed correctly.
    • Properly annotate all maintenance performed on prescribed forms for data collection.
    • Inspect, service, maintain, repair, replace, adjust and test vehicles and material handling equipment systems, subsystems and components.
    • Services automotive electrical systems, including wiring harness and starting/charging systems.

     REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

    • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in functions such as inspecting, repairing or maintaining general purpose vehicles and light and heavy duty construction equipment, preferably with the AFSC.
    • Must have a full understanding of and comply with AFI 91-203, Air Force Consolidated Occupational Safety Instructions and KAF HAZMAT policy.
    • Turner 60K Aircraft Loader and 25K Halverson experience is required.
    • MRAP platform maintenance experience.

     LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

    • EPA certified in air conditioning (performs repairs, recovery and recycling on vehicular air conditioning systems).
    • Maintain proof of certification on site at all times and provide certificates to COR.
    • Must have required flight line driving permits and the relevant restricted area permits (TMI 17).
    • Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include medical, drug testing and background checks, etc.
    • Must have valid U.S. Driver’s License.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Passport.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

    • Ability to lift/carry 50 pounds; bend, stoop, work safely around equipment/materials/supplies/cargo
    • Live and work in austere conditions to include, rain, snow, heat and extreme weather conditions
    • Work long hours, exposure to the elements and hazardous conditions

    TRAVEL: Ability to travel internationally. 100% Overseas assignment
