    Job Description:

    At The Shoshana we understand that early access to breastfeeding support is key to successful breastfeeding. We are committed to providing 24/7 access to breastfeeding support to all of our guests. We are seeking International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) to provide expert breastfeeding support to our new mothers in addition to the doula work that all of our support team provides.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Lactation Assessment: Conducting comprehensive lactation assessments to identify and address breastfeeding issues.

    Education and Instruction: Providing education and instruction to new parents on breastfeeding techniques, positions, pumping and common challenges.

    Consultations: Offering one-on-one consultations to support and guide breastfeeding mothers.

    Coordination of Care: Coordinating care for patients with complex lactation needs, including collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

    Emotional Support: Offering emotional support and reassurance to new parents, helping them navigate the challenges of the postpartum period.

    Physical Comfort: Assisting with physical recovery after childbirth, including providing opportunities for rest and personal care.

    Infant Care: Demonstrating newborn care techniques, such as feeding, diapering, and soothing the baby.

    Informational Support: Providing evidence-based information on infant care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.

    Household Organization: Assisting with light household duties around the guest’s room to allow parents to focus on their recovery and bonding with the baby.

    Referrals: Connecting parents with additional resources and support services as needed.

    Qualifications:

    Certification: Current IBCLC certification from the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).

    Education: A degree in nursing, nutrition, or a related field is preferred but not required

    Experience: Experience in lactation consulting or a related healthcare field.

    Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

    Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of human lactation, breastfeeding, and related health issues.

    Hours: Must be able to work flexible hours.

    Background: Must be able to pass a background check.

    CPR: Certification required.
