    IBI’s US West Coast Intelligence practice is hiring a Transit Specialist to join our transit technology team in our San Francisco office with potential to support project teams in San Diego, Seattle, and other locations. Our transit technology practice works on unique and leading-edge technology projects for transit agencies across North America, assisting our clients with planning, designing, procuring, deploying, and utilizing mainstream and emerging technologies and systems as they apply to transit business functions.

    Most of the things you’ll work on:

    • Proactively support public agency clients in the planning, design, procurement, and implementation of technology systems utilized by transit agencies for transit fleet management, customer information, fare collection, maintenance management, business intelligence, and other business needs.     
    • Manage scope, schedule, and budget for assigned projects, including staffing management and coordination of project activities.
    • Oversee vendor implementation activities, and verify and validate conformance with contractual requirements.         
    • Prepare project deliverables such as technical memos, reports, and engineering cost estimates.
    • Support business development activities such as identification of opportunities, outreach to clients, and proposal preparation.
    • Coordinate with clients and other design disciplines, offices, and staff.
    • May travel 10-15% of time to project locations for client-facing assignments.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

     

    • You'll need to have:
    • Strong interest in public transit and the end-user experience.
    • Understanding of, and experience with, systems engineering processes and technology analysis.
    • Some knowledge of fare collection systems, payment systems, customer service solutions, transit operations management solutions, and other similar technologies.
    • Some knowledge of emerging mobility technologies as they pertain to public transportation.
    • Prior project management-related experience and stakeholder management-related experience.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Transportation Engineering, Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, City Planning, Urban Planning, Human Centered Design, or a related field, and at least 2 to 4 years of professional work experience.
    • Strong organizational skills, communication skills, and self-motivation; comfort with taking initiative balanced with sound professional judgment.

    The San Francisco office is located in WeWork Transbay in downtown San Francisco, with convenient access to bus, rail, and ferry transit options. 

    We work on projects across North America. Significant Bay Area projects include:

    • Supporting MTC in San Francisco in designing and implementing the next-generation Clipper fare collection system.
    • Supporting AC Transit with the implementation of their new computer aided dispatch/automatic vehicle location (CAD/AVL) and communications system design, procurement, and deployment, including a new wireless communications system
