    Job Description

    IBI Group's Intelligence practice works on unique and leading-edge transit and other transportation technology projects for agencies across North America. We are looking for great people with a keen interest in public transportation to join our transit technology and Intelligent Transportation System teams to assist transit agencies across North America plan, design, procure, deploy and utilize mainstream and emerging technologies and systems as they apply to transit and other transportation business functions. Examples of the types of projects that we typically work on include computer aided dispatch systems that helps transit agencies better manage their fleet and on-time performance, real-time information systems that inform riders and customers what is happening in ways that are immediately relevant to them, and fare collection systems that provide customers with the latest generation of ways to pay.  

    Our client base is broad and located across the US. They range in size from 20 or 30 buses to fleets of thousands of vehicles. A hallmark of our work is that we have gained the long-term trust of our transit agency partners, maintaining long term relationships and being able to respond to whatever they needs. Some of these include: San Francisco MTC, Las Vegas RTC, LA Metro, Portland TriMet, King County Metro, Boston MBTA, Westchester County Beeline, Washington Metro, Tampa HART, Chicago RTA, Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC), VDOT, MassDOT, MDOT, DelDOT and others.  

    We would like the candidate to be in Atlanat (GA), Alexandria (VA), Boston (MA), or Seattle (WA), or San Diego (CA). Other locations will also be considered for well qualified candidates. We also know the world has changed as a result of COVID-19 and will continue to have a flexible work from home schedule for our great professionals. 

     MOST OF THE THINGS YOU’LL WORK ON:

    • Proactively support public agency clients in the planning, design, procurement and implementation of technology systems utilized by transit agencies and DOTs for fleet management, customer information, fare collection, maintenance management, business intelligence, traffic management, toll collection and other business needs.  This    will include working with colleagues and agency staff to understand their needs, and helping to translate those into requirements, plans and documents to help the agency procure, implement and operate new or replacement systems
    • Coordinating project activities, taking responsibility for tasks and deliverables, working with colleagues and subject matter experts from across the firm to come up with creative ideas and solutions, and preparing the materials and deliverables required for the project
    •  Oversee vendor testing, implementation activities and verify and validate conformance with contractual requirements, including from time-to-time onsite inspections and working with both clients and vendors
    •  Prepare project deliverables such as technical memos, reports, and engineering cost estimates 
    • Help with proposal preparation to pursue new work 
    • Work with colleagues both within our group and with other planning, engineering and architecture professionals to determine how to integrate technologies with the environment around us
    • May travel 10-15% of time to project locations for client-facing assignments
  • Qualifications

    YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE:_ _

    • Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Transportation, Transportation Engineering, Systems  Engineering, Civil Engineering, City Planning, Urban Planning, Computer Science/Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar field
    • Experience of 3-5 years with transportation projects or the practical implementation of technology  
    • Knowledge of, or interest in, transit and transportation systems such as fleet tracking solutions, wireless communications, electronic payments (transit or tolls), transit or traffic operations management solutions and other similar technologies
    • Interest in emerging transportation mobility concepts such as shared mobility, fleet electrification, and the evolving alignment of technology, user needs and mobility
    • Problem solving skills and a practical thinker 
    • Strong organizational skills and self-motivated 
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
