    Job Description The Boston, MA office is hiring a Transit Data Analyst to join their team. IBI Group's Transit Data practice focuses on helping transit agencies analyze service quality, measure performance, manage and process their data, and provide high-quality real-time information to passengers with a special emphasis on open data, and open data standards like GTFS/GTFS-real-time. The Transit Data practice also supports the comprehensive planning and design of transit systems and services.

    The Transit Data team has been working closely with many agencies to plan for, design, procure, implement, and test their analytics and passenger information systems. This includes experience with Boston MBTA, Denver RTD, Everett Community Transit, Vancouver TransLink, and Los Angeles Metro, amongst others.

    MOST OF THE THINGS YOU’LL WORK ON:

    • Analyze schedule, operational, real-time, and spatial data to assess the quality and performance of existing transit services
    • Plan, design, implement, and test technology systems that provide high-quality real-time information to transit passengers. This includes systems that interface with vehicle tracking systems, generate predictions, generate service alerts, and provide them to passengers via a variety of channels and data feeds.
    • Apply transit service planning principles and develop modern techniques to assist in comprehensive design of modern transit systems and services
    • Prepare technical memos, reports, dashboards, presentations and proposals
    • Coordinate with clients, and other design disciplines, offices and staff.

    Qualifications YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE:

    • Strong interest in public transit
    • Experience with, or interest in, transit operations is preferred
    • Experience with, or interest in, transit data (e.g. GTFS and GTFS-real-time formatted data) is preferred
    • Experience with, or interest in, databases and SQL is preferred
    • Experience with, or interest in, spatial analysis (e.g. ArcGIS or QGIS) is preferred
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify meaningful trends in transportation data
    • Willingness to take initiative and interest in seeking solutions to complex problems
    • One of the following educational qualifications:
    • o Master's degree in Transportation, Transportation Engineering, Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, City Planning, Urban Planning, Computer Science/Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
    • o Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Transportation Engineering, Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, City Planning, Urban Planning, Computer Science/Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and at least two years of work experience in the transportation industry.
    • Problem solving skills and a practical thinker
    • Strong organizational skills and self-motivated
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Located on the 3rd floor of 21 Custom House Street, the Boston office is in the hub of the Financial District which can be easily accessed by bike, car, and public transportation. Across the street is the Boston Harbor offering beautiful views for a lunchtime stroll. Boston is a truly historical city with many sites within walking distance of the office. Faneuil Hall and the North end is home to many food trucks and other amazing eateries. Adjacent to our office is the Rose Kennedy Greenway, which our office sectors- Landscape Architecture and Intelligence- played a role in its creation.
