    Job Description

    AECOM is actively seeking a bright and highly motivated Mechanical Process Water/Wastewater Engineer for employment in our Water Business Line based out of our New York, NY office. This is a project based engineering position to assist and support Wastewater/Water Design, Design-Build and Program Management Projects. The Position will work with Project Managers and other technical disciplines on all project phases including Facility Planning, Design, Procurement, Construction and Close Out. Work will include assisting with the management and coordination of design projects on Wastewater/Water facilities. Field work will be required and field visits to project sites within the NYC Metro area will be required to provide support as design liaison on ongoing construction projects.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Responsible for engineering, design, and rehabilitation activities related to mechanical equipment, vessels and tanks and piping systems including equipment and piping specifications and procurement. May be involved with the support of installation and operation & maintenance of equipment.

    • Builds analytic and design skills.
    • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
    • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
    • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
    • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
    • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
    • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
    • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
    • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
    • Identifies discrepancies in results.
    • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
    • Production of drawings from conceptual design through bid document phase.
    • Ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment, and demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn
    • Detail oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project
    • Strong logic skills and writing skills
    • Documents time and effort accurately
    • Ability to work productively in a team environment
    • Good communication skills
    • Flexible – can adapt to shifting priorities / work schedules

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
    • 4 years of related work experience as a Mechanical Process Engineer or equivalent wastewater engineering work experience

    Preferred Qualifications 

    • Professional Engineering License (PE), New Jersey or New York preferred
    • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, 3D REVIT, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)

    Offered rate of compensation (NYC locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $87,778 - $162,390.
