    JOB SUMMARY

    Monday to Friday 8am-5pm

    This position requires knowledge of the skills and abilities found in this job description. Individual’s are expected to work independently and gain advanced skills as identified in this job description. The primary Responsibilities are listed in this job description. This role requires the following cognitive skills: logic & reasoning or analytical thinking, electrical mathematical calculations, the ability to troubleshoot and identify defective mechanisms or faulty wiring, and repair of those systems.

    EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • NETA Certified Assistant Technician a plus.

    EXPERIENCE

    • 1 – 2 years industrial electrical manufacturing or mechanical work a plus.
    • Understanding of basic troubleshooting and the ability to use analytical thinking.
    • Use of basic tools, screw drivers, wrenches, drills, tapping holes, etc.
    • Can reasonable perform most level 1 competencies.

    • Communicate Effectively – Speak, listen, and write in a clear manner using appropriate, effective communication tools for audience being addressed.
    • Performs – Assembly, Dis-Assembly, wiring, and testing of Low Voltage Insulated Case Circuit Breakers (ICCB) and the ability to troubleshoot & repair ICCB component parts.

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

    • Works independently, understands and follows processes, especially for pulling parts, observing testing procedures, reading electrical schematics, control diagrams, and bill of materials used in manufacturing environment.

      • Learn proper wire cutting, termination, and splicing.
      • Learn testing procedures for various ICCB.
      • Learn how to use test equipment and apply proper testing in manufacturing.
      • Understanding of warehouse system.
      • Learn and establish electrically safe work conditions while manufacturing and testing.
        • The ability to identify safe work practices in area of responsibility.
    • Proper Wiring Techniques:

      • How to properly measure and terminate wires.
      • Labeling Wires.
      • Learn how to route wires.
      • Learn Landing wire.
    • Equipment Competencies:

      • Use of basic manufacturing & measuring tools. Technician should be equipped with basic tools for electrical manufacturing & remanufacturing.
    • Parts Fabrication Tools:

      • Cutting & Machining tools.
      • Use of sand blaster*.
      • Use of vibratory polisher*.
      • Use of torque wrenches correctly.
      • Use of hand jack.
      • Bending machine*.
      • Punch machine*.
      • Ability to solder*.
      • Silver Plating*.
    • Knowledge:

      • Understands and uses PEARL reconditioning standard for reconditioned jobs.
      • Understands electrical standard units used to describe energy & power electrical circuits.
      • Can perform basic troubleshooting & circuit tracing.
      • Can test/repair mechanical & electrical operators.
      • Understands drawout systems & can repair.
      • Understands and can test both vintage & modern trip units.
      • Can test/install/repair auxiliary switches.
      • Can test/repair bell alarm.
      • Can test/repair UVR.
      • Can test/repair shunt trips.
      • Understands rating plugs & testing.
      • Can perform basic troubleshooting & circuit tracing.
      • Ground Fault (GF) & Zone System Interlock (ZSI).
    • Assembly:

      • Ability to interpret & understand control drawings and wire in accordance with (IAW) wiring diagram(s).
      • Learns & understands electrical symbols & ANSI device numbers.
      • Learn to read & understand control diagrams.
      • Test and perform interlock checks, as applicable.
      • Install shunt trips and check functionality.
      • Install Auxiliary switches or contacts & check functionality.
    • Testing:

      • Multimeter.
      • Megger.
      • Ductor.
      • Primary/Secondary Injection Test Set*.
      • Power Supply.
      • Hipot Test.
    • Testing Principles:

      • Learn methods & procedures for resistance tests & analyze results.
      • Learn methods and procedures for current tests and analyze results.
      • Learn, understand, and apply the principles of electromagnetic fields.
      • Learn, understand, and apply dielectric properties.
    • Testing Procedures:

      • MCCB – Solid State Report*.
      • MCCB – Thermal Mag Test Report*.
      • AB-4 Circuit Breaker Test*.
      • Switch – Test Report.
      • Switchboard – Test Report.

    RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES

    • Responsible for personal safety and employing safe work practices.
    • Assists Level 1 technicians with:
      • Basic measurements.
      • Test equipment and setup.
      • Basic maintenance and cleaning.
      • Pulling and providing parts and assisting with kitting larger manufacturing jobs.
      • Working in apprentice role learning skills to work independently.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Working conditions are normal for a shop environment.
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
    • Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

    *Signifies that during coarse of normal work these tasks may not be encountered to learn. Given opportunity they should be learned.
