  • Responsibilities

    Job Summary:

    Works in collaboration with the Director of ICU to promote and restore patients' health and safety by completing the nursing process. Collaborates with Providers and Multidisciplinary Team Members in a cohesive and professional manner to ensure safe, quality patient care. Provides physical and psychological support to patients and their support person. Supervises and assists team members. The ICU Team Leader should maintain a positive working relationship with staff as well as Physicians, LIP's and ancillary departments.

    Essential Functions:

    • Assists the Director of ICU in promoting and maintaining quality patient care through effective leadership on their assigned unit.
    • Assists the Director of ICU in coordinating and disseminating information to unit staff and Providers.
    • Works closely with the Director of ICU to hold staff accountable for following JSMC policy/procedure, CMS standards and regulations and JC standards and regulations.
    • Mentors staff and assists in education and competency check offs.
    • Actively participates in Multidisciplinary, ICU, and Device Rounds.
    • Assists with administrative duties such as scheduling, payroll, and chart audits.
    • Keeps up with inventory and ordering of unit specific supplies.
    • Rotates Night/Weekend call with willingness to fill staffing voids should the need arise.
    • Attends and participate in meetings/committees for process and performance improvement.
    • Acts as Director of ICU absence of Director of ICU.

    Required Skills

    Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

    Minimum Work Experience: Minimum 2 years RN Clinical Setting preferred

    Required Licenses:
    Current RN license to practice in the state of Kentucky

    Current BLS Certification required

    Current ACLS Certification required

    Required Skills:

    Excellent customer service skills.

    Self-directing. Able to work with little direct supervision.

    Empathy for the needs of patients.

    Effective oral and written communication skills.

    Ability to communicate through spoken and written English.

    Treats patients and others with courtesy and respect, presenting a positive public image.

    Works well as a team member.

    Ensures confidentiality and security of patients’ medical information

  • Qualifications
