  • Responsibilities

    SUMMARY:

    Computer Science engineer with C++ programming skills, professional software engineering practices, experience with numerical analysis algorithms, scalable data structure and database design, and API development, to bring improved analytical, modeling, and simulation fidelity, enable predictive protection concepts through modeling and simulation, and reporting involving vehicle platform protection and survivability.

    Candidates must be a US citizen and will be required to possess an active US Department of Defense SECRET clearance.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (NOT LIMITED TO DUTIES AS DESCRIBED – PERFORMS RELATED DUTIES AS REQUESTED)

    • Revise and enhance existing C++ code to improve and maintain quality, modularity, portability, understandability, and maintainability of code.
    • Develop C++ code with appropriate data structures and databases, implement application program interfaces with third-party tools, and perform debugging activities for newly added vehicle protection capabilities.
    • Serve as a POC to DoD High Performance Center with respect to the use of Git version control tool, massively parallel processing features, HDF5 Data format, in-situ visualization capabilities, etc.
    • Support exploratory research in machine learning, software verification, validation and uncertainty quantification, and conduct cross-language software integration.
    • Ensure compliance with all US and local government reporting requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and other practices set forth by senior management.
    • Works independently under general guidelines or objectives.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

     

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor of Science degree in computer science or engineering.

    10+ years experience in technology design and development or research and development.

     

    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

    • Technical expertise C++ programming and database design.
    • Scientific background and experience with Army R&D projects.
    • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks independently.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with a wide range of scientific/technical personnel regarding progression of R&D projects.
    • Excellent follow through and time management skills.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

    • Standard work week, notionally Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
    • Location: Adelphi, MD or Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD

     

    TRAVEL:

    Travel is not anticipated but may be required.

    • Ability to maintain a high level of productivity under minimal supervision
    • Highly motivated to assist customers with enrollment needs

    • Strong people and customer service skills-you're approachable, a good listener, and empathetic to your customers, with excellent verbal communication skills
