    SUMMARY/ GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • The incumbent insulates boilers, pipes, tanks and refrigeration units, with insulation materials such as cork, plastic and
    • Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered and identify and reports safety, environmental and other work requirements for

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Attach prefabricated covering around steam and hot water piping using hand

    • Utilizes trowel mastic or brush cement on cloth to obtain smooth finish covering pipes. Trowels cement on wire netting to protect insulation

    • Fits thermo block and magnesia block insulation around boilers, evaporators and

      • Attaches insulation on machinery and staples wire netting over
    • Attaches cork on water, refrigeration and air-conditioning piping and cements cloth over insulating material to obtain smooth

      • Cuts sheets of insulation into sections, using handsaw and miter
      • Fits and cements sections around fittings
      • Covers gas piping of refrigeration or air-conditioning systems with molded
    • Fabricates detachable insulation for valves or similar fitting by measuring connections, preparing patters, cutting cloth and stuffing cloth with ammonite (plastic pipe covering).

      • Installs detachable covers on calves or fittings, using hand
    • Installs fiberglass or spun glass on ventilation systems to deaden sound and prevent vibration.

    • Utilizes and interprets technical manuals, shop directives, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and specifications, verbal and written

    • Responsible for completing daily work order log documenting inspections, maintenance and repair information, to include work performed, materials used and hours worked on each assigned work

    • Adheres to proper security practices, foreign object damage procedures and airfield driving regulations, as

      • Interfaces with customers and responsible for customer feedback, as
      • Operates motor vehicles in accordance with company vehicle
    • Complies with applicable federal, state, United States Air Force (USAF) and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) environmental laws and regulations.

    • Complies with health and safety rules and procedures; performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work

    • Incumbent will at all times wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as determined by position and duties.

    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    • Accurate, timely, and cost effective performance of duties.

    • Working harmoniously with customers and fellow co-workers.

    • Maintaining strict confidentiality of all Alutiiq LLC related matters.

    • Accountable for assigned tools, materials and equipment.

    • Cleanliness and safety of shop and work areas.

    • Installs armaflex or fiberglass, insulation on chilled and hot water lines.

    • Installs insulation on duct work and air handlers

    • Installs vapor seal as required.

    • Works in confined spaces or at heights up to a maximum of 185 feet utilizing a manlift/boom lift or ladder to preform work.

     

    Required Skills

    QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

    • High School diploma or equivalency.
    • Current state driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and proof of valid insurance.
    • Minimum one (1) years’ experience/relative experience at insulation of various pipes and equipment.
    • Demonstrated familiarity in the use of approved plastics, cements and bonding agents for insulation
    • Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licenses/IDs/certifications.
    • Ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to adapt to changes in technology and applicable facility/infrastructure codes and standards.
    • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional & courteous manner in diverse situations.
    • Proficiency and knowledge of a variety of hand and power tools.
    • Demonstrated working ability read, write, speak and understand English.

     

    PREFERRED:

    • Five (3) years’ experience at insulation of various pipes and equipment.
    • Military experience.
    • Previous experience working on a military installation.
    • Experience working on Tinker facilities.
    • Familiarity with military-specific facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable
