  • Responsibilities

    Expert understanding of Carrier and Enterprise grade Network Infrastructure. Hardware components include routers, switches, firewalls, optical taps, media such as Layer1 fiber and copper data cabling, SFP Optics and associated protocols, device linecards, power cabling, and rack elevations. 5-7 years advanced router & switch configuration & system administration experience with Cisco & Juniper Routers is REQUIRED. Similar experience with F5 AFM or LTM is recommended. Candidate will be requested to verbally communicate both common & advanced configurations and config concepts. Expert knowledge of highly-available Networks, standards, best practices, and designs of such. Expert knowledge of the OSI Interconnect Model. The candidate will be responsible for the physical install, capital management, complete configuration, design, troubleshooting, and interconnect of above equipment in an advanced Lab. This is an equipment hands-on position in the Lab facility (cabling, equipment, power connectivity using standard power cables). Network devices will be tested using advanced Network test equipment. Candidate must be knowledgeable in equipment KPIs and be prepared to communicate test parameters / results.  Candidate will be responsible to communicate status updates of above to internal team using clear and accurate verbal and written methods, including but not limited to conference calls, face-to-face meetings, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, Visio, and accurate technical documentation.  Assist with the coordination and development of hardware and software bill-of-materials based on a provided Design. Participate in discussions with vendor and employees, while being prepared act as a critical check & balance to vendor technical proposals or statements. Ensure accuracy and accurate tracking of materials delivery. Manage the rollout of that Capital Hardware to remote locations according to the Design and in advance of a complex critical Network growth schedule. Manage Capital installation vendor & progress. Strong history of accuracy and accountability when working with highly complex technical deployment and modification projects, which will be expected to be described in detail to the interviewer via detailed examples of such. Strong verbal and written communications skills, and we request examples of highly technical documentation previously completed (redacted where necessary), or a detailed description of equivalent of that which cannot be disclosed. Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related.

    • Four year degree in related field, e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, etc., or two year degree w/equivalent levels of experience in related field. (Appropriate levels of experience, typically two years’ experience equals one year of college, maybe exchanged for degree).
    • Must have strong computer skills with a good knowledge of Windows OS; must be comfortable with hardware and software solutions
    • Must have good decision-making skills to be able to take appropriate actions within the framework of established department and company policies and practices in a remote environment
    • Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to be able to work on a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of data and/or situations requires evaluation of multiple factors
    • Must be able to operate independently with minimal supervision within established department/company practices and execute appropriate action
    • Must be customer oriented
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication as well interpersonal skills to be able to interact effectively and precisely with company staff and clients
    • Must be able to maintain a professional appearance at all times
    • Must be willing to travel and to work at alternate hours when required to meet varying customer volume requirements
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable transportation for long distance driving

     

    DESIRABLE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

     

    • Network Troubleshooting experience
    • Experience installing Windows desktops and servers.
    • Ability to support a variety of proprietary applications, which scan, code, match, and file fingerprints.
