JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Pre-Sales Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support to the Sales Activities of the Biometric Access Control, Time and Attendance Group (BATS). S/he will work in cooperation with the IDEMIA BATS Sales Director, Account Managers and Senior Pre-Sales Engineer under the direction of the Senior Program Manager to facilitate sales, revenue growth and ensure customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO):
- Assist the sales team in defining IDEMIA biometric capabilities in customer meetings
- Provide in-depth knowledge of the IDEMIA software and hardware to answer questions as they arise
- Research answers and follow up on questions posed that went unanswered
- Actively participate in demonstrations of IDEMIA biometric technology at customer sites and trade shows
- Includes setting up software and hardware to be demonstrated
- Conduct demonstration of IDEMIA software and hardware
- Assist system integrators and/or end users to install and configure IDEMIA access control technology for proof of concept projects. This includes:
- Training end users and/or system integrators participating in the proof of concept
- Providing IDEMIA technology (software and hardware) support throughout the duration of the proof of concept period
- Train IDEMIA business partner network
- Train System Integrators in the proper installation and operation of IDEMIA access control biometric management software
- Train System Integrators in the proper installation and operation of IDEMIA access control biometric terminals
- Support sales by working on the architecture of key projects
- Collaborate with customer and system integrator to define customer requirements
- Define the required architecture to meet customer requirements
- Act as the technical Voice of the Customer to identify and articulate key evolutions of IDEMIA products & solutions to Product Management
- Develop awareness of competitor products and positioning, provide to Product Management product evolutions required to meet market demands and market evolutions
- In close cooperation with Support, Program Management and Sales, keep track to final resolution of technical issues which impact customer’ operations, escalating the issues as needed to obtain the correct resources and solution to solve operational problems
- In addition to the Essential Functions, also performs similar work-related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Good understanding of networks and information technology
- Understanding of relational databases, configuration thereof, and basic database scripting skills (MS SQL)
- Possess strong problem-solving skills and proven ability to communicate issues and solutions
- Must be proactive to identify and anticipate client (end user customers/system integrators) needs and make recommendations for implementation.
- Must be self-directed and self-motivated as well as accountable for results.
- Excellent organization and time management skills which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to detail; must be able to understand and manage conflicting priorities; must have a proven track record for timely delivery of multiple parallel objectives
- Able to work under pressure
- Possess demonstrated verbal (including presentation in person and web based) and writing communication as well as excellent listening skills.
- Ability to build trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results, at all levels of the Organization; must be able to work in a team environment and to partner/interface with peers, sales staff and field technicians
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to bring discipline to drive results and follow established fundamental goal
Required Experience
- Minimum five years’ experience as a Pre sales engineer in the physical access control industry or in a technical position with a strong customer focus/interaction
- Bachelors or Master degree (IT/Electronics Engineer, marketing a plus)
- Must have experience in working collaboratively with business partners to effectively resolve problems
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience working for a Multinational company
- Previous experience as a network engineer
- Previous experiences with Low Current, Security and Access Control systems, Video Surveillance & Security Systems, Visitor Management Systems, and/or Time & Attendance Systems.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT, WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequent overnight travel is required; up to 50% of the time
- General office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
- Office environment where the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. Some walking, standing, bending, reaching, and carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment.
