    Construction inspectors needed with a background in construction inspection of traffic control devices (signals, signing, lighting, and ITS) and/or roadway construction with knowledge of the installation of traffic control devices. 

     

    Duties include tracking and monitoring the work performed by signal, signing, lighting and ITS contractors, reviewing documents and ensuring compliance in the field, resolving construction issues, documenting work through the use of inspector’s daily report (IDR) and reporting on construction statuses.  The ideal candidate will be able to successfully manage multiple crews.  

     

    Field inspectors must be willing to work alternate schedules (i.e., evenings, nights and/or weekends) as necessary to support the project schedule and the contractor’s working hours.

    Required Skills

    •  Ability to read highway plans and right-of-way plans
    •  Specialized experience in electrical work is preferred
    •  Experience with Microsoft Office preferred
    • Temporary Traffic Control Traffic  Manager certification preferred
    • Erosion & Sediment Control certification perferred
    • International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Inspection certification preferred
    • ACI Concrete certification preferred

    Required Experience

    • High School Diploma
    • Degree in engineering or construction management beneficial
    • Candidate must have three years of experience as a construction field inspection or construction utility coordinator with a background in construction inspection of traffic control devices
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with utility companies, contractors, political entities and the general public
    • Valid Driver's License is required

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
